Can hi-tech toys be fun and educational?

Summary
The technology in science rapidly advanced, so today’s kids are growing up in a world which is filled with technology. Now, some hi-tech toys that is good for children’s education is developed and used at home. But playing with educational hi-tech toys need to be controlled. By the way, the traditional toys give social awareness to children and help them to build relationship among friends. So, parents must be responsible and make sure children are playing with more traditional toys too. People are able to create content that can change as the child develops by combining technology with traditional toys.

Opinion
I thought that parents should balance hi-tech toys and traditional toys. Certainly, traditional toys can help children to build relationship among friends, but we should respond to the changing times. By using hi-tech toys which is good for education, for example, it is easy to learn pronunciation, look realistic and experience realistic. But, I think that there is a problem that using it too much is bad for children’s eyes. So parents need to control times that using hi-tech toys. By balancing hi-tech toys and traditional toys, we can take advantage of the technology and children can be educated better.

Calais migrants: France begins to clear ‘Jungle’ camp

Summary

There is a migrants camp in Calais. It has been housing at least 7000 people, 1300 unaccompanied children in squalid condition. So it is called ‘Jungle’. Many migrants want to go to the UK, because they can find work in the UK and they speak English but they can not speak a European language. Some of them will leave for various parts of France and given the opportunity to claim asylum. Others who could not do it may face deportation. Then, France have begun an operation to clear migrant camp. Some migrants will leave the camp one after another, so parts of the camp were emptying quickly.

Opinion

This ‘Jungle’ migrants camp should be dismantled as soon as possible because its condition is the worst. France government have begun an operation, of course it is a good way to solve this problem but I am not in full accord with it. Some people who were recognized as refugee will be able to go to the safe and comfortable place but I think a reality which others may be deported from the country is terrible. France government should support all people in the migrants camp, but I think it might be hard.

Final Report

I believe that Mallory succeeded in climbing to the top of Mt Everest in 1924. “Why climb Mt Everest?” “Because it’s there.” In Japan, he especially is famous for this line. He aimed to reach the summit with Irvine, but the expedition judged that they had an accident and died because they didn’t come back. After 75 years, in 1999, his frozen body was detected at an altitude of 8160 meters by an expedition. This argument that he died after or before reaching the summit is still being debated, but I have three reasons that I think he succeeded in climbing to the top of Mt Everest.
First, his daughter said that he took a picture of his wife to leave it on the top if he could reach the summit. It was not found from his body, so I think he could get the top and left it. In addition, it is unlikely that it was weathered and vanished in his pocket because his body was preserved surprisingly well even under extremely chilly and dry climate. However, if he could leave it on the top as a memory of success of climbing Mt Everest, even now it was also not found at the top, but I guess it was exposed and blown away by the wind and exists in somewhere in mountain.
Secondly, he always puts on sunglasses in the daytime to protect eyes from the reflected light from the snow, but his sunglasses was found in his pocket. It means that he was climbing down a mountain after sunset, so it was not necessary to wear it. I think after he succeeded in climbing of Mt Everest, he took his sunglasses off and during his descent from the peak, he died of the injury of the forehead because of his slipping down.
Thirdly, some testimonies of the friends of Mallory tell us how he was a splendid mountaineer. Tom Longstaff who is a mountaineer in England and a member of the 1922 British Mt Everest expedition said that it is hard to imagine that Mallory and Irvine decided a descent without reaching the top, the summit of Mt Everest is the place appropriate for him.” Geoffrey Winthrop Young who is a mountaineer representing the 1920s and respects Mallory said that “his climbing technique is what he made, not a theory. He certainly climbed to the top.”
For these reasons, I believe that Mallory succeeded in climbing to the top of Mt Everest. By the way, what is reaching summit? Some mountaineers said it concludes coming back alive. Certainly, I think there is some truth in what they say, but the fact remains that he reached the top. I hope it will be proved sometime.

Two rare blue lobsters caught in Canada

Summary

Two rare blue lobsters that look like creatures in a science fiction movie were caught in the waters off Alder Point, Nova Scotia. One is discovered by Blaine Marsh who is fisherman, and he released the lobster back in the ocean. After a few days, the other is found by Scott MacKinnon at about 93 miles away near Low Point, Nova Scotia. That means that it’s not the same lobster. According to the University of Maine Lobster Institute, the reason why that lobsters changed their color is that a special gene mutation affects their coloring.

Opinion

I think that two rare blue lobsters are canary in the mine and the situation that such rare creatures appeared should be thought seriously, because a special gene mutation may make ordinary creatures violent and disruptive. Then that will have a great effect on the ecosystem, in the worst case, that will destroy it. There are some reasons that influence the ecosystem and environment, I think the act of human is influential for environment, for example deforestation, air pollution and water pollution, and so on. So, we should do our best for enviroment.

Jumpei Yasuda: Japan believes hostage photo is genuine

Summary

In July, Jumpei Yasuda has been seized by the jihadist group al-Nusra Front. It is a party opposing the government in Syria, allied to al-Qaeda. In May 29th, a new photo which he holds a board saying “Please help me. This is my last chance.” was posted online. And Japan said a man in that photo is Mr. Yasuda and it was doing everything it could to help him. If the government did not negotiate, Mr. Yasuda would be passed to Islamic State, and would be beheaded like Kenji Goto and Haruna Yukawa in last year.

Opinion

I think what Mr. Yasuda has been seized by jihadist group al-Nusra Front is inevitable, because the journalist is the job which going to all over the world to interview anyone, heedless of danger. So, the journalist like Mr. Yasuda should go to dangerous area on his own responsibility.

It is so difficult for Japanese government to negotiate. If the government negotiates, an armed group like jihadist group al-Nusra Front and IS will seize more Japanese and use them for self-serving propaganda. In contrast, if the government doesn’t negotiate, the government will be criticized because Japan had not done enough to save him.

Ghana missing first 10 fastest growing economies in Africa

Summary

According to the IMF, Ivory Coast is Africa’s fastest growing economy. Its economy has benefited from government policies and structural reforms, which have resulted in strong inclusive growth. Following in second place is Tanzania, with projected growth of just under 7% this year. Senegal completes the top three, with 6.6%. The World Economic Forum on Africa 2016 will take place in Kigali, Rwanda from 11-13 May. It will highlight the need for diversification in order to ensure inclusive economic growth.

Opinion

I think Africa has improved dramatically in a few years. According to this article, compared with much of developed world, economic growth is relatively high in Africa, and GDP in many African countries is projected to grow by over 2% this year. I think a motive power of this Africa’s economic growth is abundant underground resources. I heard that there are much gold, silver, copper, nickel, rare earth in south Africa. By continuing this industry, Africa will be able to become developed countries. However, Africa still has a lot of problems, for example, starvation, penury, the commodities slump, currency devaluations, geo-security and so on. So, all governments of Africa should recognize such problems that African economies face. If the Fourth Industrial Revolution will happen in Africa, that will help growth of Africa.
