Last month, the Panama Canal was expanded. The new locks are enormous. This upgrade has costed $5.4 billion. The former canal could accommodate 5,000 containers. Today, the new one has double the capacity. The United States built the canal and 65% of the cargo that uses the waterway has ports as its origin or destination.

This upgrade might raise the dominant U.S. position, I suppose. It allows the large ships transporting propane gas to make faster and cheaper carrying to Asian markets. On the other hands, we should consider the influence to surrounding environment like ecosystem. Linking the sea to another lets creatures move alternately. It can break environment. If human exterminate some creatures, can we take the responsibility of it? We must be careful when arranging environment.
I believe that the death penalty can be abolished. In Japan, the heaviest penalty is the death penalty. It’s established to such 15 grave crimes as murder. But the Constitution of Japan says that cruel punishments are absolutely forbidden. Is not the death penalty a cruel punishment?
“The gallows isn’t cross with a cruel penalty” for the Supreme Court in March, 1948, a judgement was indicated. The United Nations, however, adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in December. They admitted that the right to live can’t be infringed. On the other hand, in Japan, 3 condemned criminals also were executed and were still keeping the posture of the death penalty maintenance last year. According to investigations by Amnesty Japan, 143 condemned criminals are detained at present.
There are persons who are insisting on a false charge in the condemned criminal and are doing petition for retrial, too. It has been proved that a fixation condemned criminal was innocent in 2013, and he has been released. If taking the life of an innocent person by a wrong judgement, nobody can recoup. The death penalty also contains such the risk.
In addition, a recent study has showed that it was improper to assume that the gallows isn’t cruel. There even is a possibility of separating a head from a body. If it isn’t so, involving pain cannot be avoided.
Lastly, does establishing the death penalty make criminal deterrent? In conclusion, there is no one. The investigation by the United Nations couldn’t have proved that the death penalty has the criminal deterrent effect beyond the life sentence. In fact, people who come to a crime from the motive to which they say “I wanted to be executed.”
Even if it is a state power, it isn’t permitted infringing one’s right to live. “An eye for an eye.” such as, it will be impossible to form the society which sympathizes with mutual out of retaliatory judiciary. Although humans make mistakes, we can live through the crime and compensate. The death penalty can be abolished.

Same-sex marriage is not generally accepted today. In particular, the battle for LGBT’s rights is serious in Asia. In China, homosexuality is decriminalized 20 years ago. The stigma, however, remains because social tradition that strongly emphasizes the duty of sons and daughters to get married and bear children to continue the family line. Although I will not contradict the idea, It is wrong to impose stereotype one on others. I believe that this “lights up” can change public attitudes toward LGBT.
In Rio de Janeiro, a team of privately funded are patrolling the street in tourist areas and hauling homeless people off to police stations. The Officers are currently serving military police officers working on their days off and ex-army officers, wearing identifiable high-visibility vests, colour-coded by area. Targeting only dark-skinned people is terrible, of course. But it is the case; they protects the citizens’ life. We should take into account it when we think of police. In japan, police officers often hide and ambush in order to catch and punish speeders. Some people, including me, say “They are cowardice.” I also think, however, it is “Necessary Evil” because of their acts rightly contribute to our peace. We might have to search the way to coexist with them.
