Opinion
I usually don’t read a sports news but this article attracted me. It was easy for me to understand the content such as who, where, when, what they did. There is not only simple but also the varieties of expression. Sports news tend to be a news that reports only the outcome of a game or contest. However, this article has many varied modes of expression to prevent the content from simplifying. For example, to get a goal is represented by a variety of words: to loop past a goalkeeper, to fire home with a fine low strike, to head in cross, to notch a goal and to tap-in. These expressions are different from each other. A fine low strike means a strong ground shot and tap-in represents to prod a ball into a goal with a little touch. Moreover words such as spree, to fire home, and demolition describe enthusiasm of the stadium. Thus various expressions give us joyful, excitement and sometimes depression. If I were a director of sports news, I would like to write news stories that don’t make readers feel bored.

Ineffective inflation target

The inflation target means a monetary policy that a central bank establishes a certain range and keeps the inflation rate in the range. This monetary policy is to overcome deflation in Japan. The Bank of Japan aims to keep the rate in 2% in 2013. However the target is not achieved now. Haruhiko Kuroda, Bank of Japan Gov, gave the statement that the central bank may postpone the date for achieving the target to 2018 in Bloomberg Television. The postponement signal the BOJ would fail to achieve its own target during Kuroda’s term which ends in April 2018. He said he will continue their his easing in coming months and years to achieve 2% inflation, in the recent interview.

Opinion
The Japan economy has been down for several years. I think the cause is long-standing deflation. Kuroda set the inflation target to pull out of deflation but the monetary policy is not effective fully now. Is it impossible to achieve the target? I found the date that foreign countries such as British and Australia set each inflation targets and they attain the objective. However, their targets are to prevent excessive inflation while Japanese target is to overcome deflation. It is said that no country could exit from deflation with the inflation target.
In conclusion, BOJ should take another way because I don’t think the inflation target will be achieved. I hope Japanese economic will recover and stabilize.

A Tesla car’s accident

Summary
A Tesla car which has a self-driving system brought second crash accident in Pennsylvania. The Model X car hit a guard rail and veered to the eastward lane, and the driver and a passenger was injured. Tesla insisted the Autopilot has nothing to do with the accident. According to a response to the first accident in Florida, the Autopilot is an auto-assist system rather than autonomous system. The National Traffic Safety Administration has said an auto systems needed to be twice as safe as the manual systems.

Opinion
I think an auto driving system is dangerous in the present age and we should not introduce the system in the life of people. A self driving system of Tesla cars caused two accidents accidents. It is too early to depend on the auto system because the technology does not has enough safety yet. Even if the system is improved in the future, there are also still problems. It is a conflict between human and computers. We want to turn the steering to left to prevent from accidents but computer says “Turn right”. We can solve this problem by setting that human gets a decision when the conflict occurred. However, can we deal with the urgent accident which even computer hesitates to judge?
We should not touch the auto driving system because there is no 100%.

Final essay

I believe in the existence of ghosts. Have you experienced that a power of the TV you surely had turned off turned on suddenly again? Have you ever had sleep paralysis before? They may be because of ghosts. In this essay, I explain the possibility of ghosts, giving a mysterious experience and a perspective of people on ghosts in Japan.

First, I talk about my strange experience in former days.
My friend lives on the 12th floor of a high-rise apartment. That was when I visited his apartment. I got into an elevator and pressed a button of 12 to go to his room. Then the 9th button lighted. I thought that someone was going to get into the elevator at the 6th floor. But I found out something terrible and quickly pressed all buttons of 3 to 8. I got out of the elevator immediately after it stopped the 4th floor, ran down the stairs and went outside. What was terrible in this story? Because the button of 9 doesn’t light unless someone presses the button inside the elevator, there was someone in the elevator besides me. I felt cold and uncomfortable at that time. I don’t know there was an accident in the past but I think that was caused by ghosts.

Next, I talk about a curse. Have you seen people making a noise in a grave? No, I have not. It is because they are afraid of a curse by a dead person and think they should not approach a place such as a grave and a house where the owner was killed. We have known the curse as “tatari” since we were children. Tatari has existed from ancient times in Japan. In Heian period, Michizane Sugawara, a noble who was defeated in political strifes, was demoted to a remote area and died there. After his death, a thunderbolt struck at Kyoto where he had worked. It is said the accident occurred because of Michizane’s tatari. Tatari have taken root in Japanese people, handing down to descendants and others. So we unconsciously recognize the power of ghosts.

My experience may be due to a malfunction of the elevator. Tatari may be an absurd superstition. However, I felt fears at the moment and people keep away from a spot related to death of person. In conclusion, I think the feeling and the act come from recognition of ghosts. I have not seen ghosts but I believe in them.

Sharapova took a mistake

Summary

Maria Sharapova, the Russian tennis player, was banned for two years from games because she tested positive for the illegal drug meldonium.

In spite of her status, Nike and Head plan on supporting her on the grounds that the decision was not based on extensive clinical testing.

After this news, it is said her income such as her own branded clothes are going to plump over the next 12 months.

According her state, she did not know meldonium was added to the banned list.
Opinion
She doesn’t have enough self-awareness as a pro tennis player.

Certainly she only has used meldonium as a remedy, but she received warnings from ITF. Despite the warnings, she said she did not know the fact. Ignorance is no excuse.

I think she should have tried to pay attention to the drug.

Therefore, in the point of her punishment, I don’t think it is too heavy for her because she neglected a confirmation of the illegally drug list .

She has to have consciousness as a top athlete.

The largest seizure of cocaine in Colombia

Summary
Police in Colombia confiscates approximately 8 tonnes cocaine hidden on a banana plantation from Colombian gangs. It was the largest seizure of cocaine ever, but according to Defense Minister, cocaine seizures are slightly larger in Colombia. The security forces have arrested 6,700 members of the gang group in this five years. The Colombian government said it would carry out an air strike against gangs dealing drugs in this month.

Opinion
In this article, Colombian government will carry out an air strike on gangs in order to wipe out them related to illegally drugs.

Certainly the measure is effective to the collapse of drug rings, but does the air raid lead to a decrease in the drug? I don’t think so. In my opinion, it is necessary to decrease the demand rather than the supply. Even if illegally drugs on the market decrease, the price will rather rise and drug dealers will gain benefits. Conversely, if the demand of illegally drugs decreases, the price will fall and a drug market will be declining.

So, we should pour our efforts into an education about a fear of drugs in order to reduce the demand.  The effect may not emerge immediately, but the effort will connect a decrease in illegally drugs in the future.
