Two rare blue lobsters caught in Canada

Summary

Two rare blue lobsters that look like creatures in a science fiction movie were caught in the waters off Alder Point, Nova Scotia. One is discovered by Blaine Marsh who is fisherman, and he released the lobster back in the ocean. After a few days, the other is found by Scott MacKinnon at about 93 miles away near Low Point, Nova Scotia. That means that it’s not the same lobster. According to the University of Maine Lobster Institute, the reason why that lobsters changed their color is that a special gene mutation affects their coloring.

Opinion

I think that two rare blue lobsters are canary in the mine and the situation that such rare creatures appeared should be thought seriously, because a special gene mutation may make ordinary creatures violent and disruptive. Then that will have a great effect on the ecosystem, in the worst case, that will destroy it. There are some reasons that influence the ecosystem and environment, I think the act of human is influential for environment, for example deforestation, air pollution and water pollution, and so on. So, we should do our best for enviroment.

France labor dispute: Paris protests descend into violence

Summary
Protests in Paris against a French laber reform bill have descended into violence.
At least 40 people injured, including 29 police officers, and 58 arrests, in this protests.
At least 75,000 demonstrators had convened in the capital as the upper house of parliament debated changes to employment laws.
The labor reform makes it easier for employers to hire and fire workers.
It would also relax the limit on working hours. The government forced the changes through the National Assembly last month without a vote.
Demonstrations against the reform bill began on 9 March and led to a massive demonstration on 31 March, when nearly 400,000 people came out in protest across France.

Opinion
I think that protests in Japan are more peaceful than that in France.
The labor reform bill in France makes it easier for employers to hire and fire workers. This is weak labor bill.
The labor bill in Japan is more strong. That makes it hard for employers to hire and fire workers.
But Japanese are more working than they are propered.
Japan has strong labor bill but that little works.
This situation is worse than it in France.
That is because Japanese have virtue of long work time.
There is connivance of overtime work.
It makes death from overwork.

Turkish problem

Turkish border guards kill 11 Syrian refugees who were going to entry Turkey illegally.  The victims include children and they tried to cross into the country.  Turkey says it is not accused, and they feel pressure from the EU to stop Syrians trying to travel to Europe.  In addition to this, Turkey host some 2.7 million Syrian asylum seekers.  However, of course, the UN and other humanitarian organizations condemn actions taken by Turkey against Syrian refugeIes.  Turkish official claim they are welcoming Syrian refugees with open borders and open arms, but their border guards are killing and beating them.

My opinion is that Turkish borders actions is never forgiven, it is very cruel and awful.  However, Turkey has difficult problem about Syrian refugees.  They have enormous refugees and are being to under the pressure from the EU.  It is very difficult to deal with this problem about refugees for only Turkey.  That’s why helps of other countries are very important.  Other country should not only deny the Turkey’s action but also assistance this problem.  Syrian refugees is not only Turkey’s problem.  Therefore I think other country’s aids lead to resolve this difficult problem.

Eiffel Tower to don rainbow colors after Orlando Killings

Summary

The Eiffel Tower was lit in rainbow colors in solidarity with the victims of the attack at nightclub in Orlando.  The mourning in Paris is one of many vigils worldwide in honor of the LGBT community, the victims and sustained injury at the gay nightclub, including respect in Britain and the US.

Opinion

Same-sex marriage is not generally accepted today.  In particular, the battle for LGBT’s rights is serious in Asia.  In China, homosexuality is decriminalized 20 years ago.  The stigma, however,  remains because social tradition that strongly emphasizes the duty of sons and daughters to get married and bear children to continue the family line.  Although I will not contradict the idea, It is wrong to impose stereotype one on others.  I believe that this “lights up” can change public attitudes toward LGBT.

France labor dispute: Paris protests descend into violence

Summary

Demonstrations against the reform bill began on 9 March and led to a massive demonstration on 31 March, when nearly 400,000 people came out in protest across France. At least 40 people injured, including 29 police officers, and 58 arrests. And at least 75,000 demonstrators had convened in the capital as the upper house of parliament debated changes to employment laws. Besides, Student and several unions organized protests across the country, part of weeks of industrial action. In a separate protest, Air France pilots, rail workers and taxi drivers went on strike to demand better working conditions. The problem is that the labor reform makes it easier for employers to hire and fire workers and it would also relax the limit on working hours. The government forced the changes through the National Assembly last month without a vote.

Opinion

When I first read this article in the class, I thought that it is only natural that labors oppose a labor reform bill because Although this bill is concerned with the living, the government forced the changes without a vote. However, now I think the government had no choice but to do that. After looking into this labor problem in France, I understood that the president Hollande think a rigid labor market cause high unemployment rate. And dismissing the regular employee is so difficult in France. As a result, the government have to carefully employ the regular employee. So unemployment rate doesn’t improved. In addition, Paris is the most short working hours city in the world. I didn’t know this. The workers in the Paris need work only about six hours per day. I was so surprised this.  I think maybe the France government had predicted that this labor reform bill will be opposed strongly, so they forced the changes without a vote.

In conclusion, I thought that jumping to the conclusion is dangerous and we need to read article carefully.

German minister warns NATO against ‘warmongering’

summary

NATO conducted a military exercise in Eastern Europe and carried out a 10-day exercise simulating a Russian attack in Poland. This exercise in poland, which takes place in every two years, was intened to test NATO’s ability to respond to treats, and to ally fears in Eastern Europe since Russia’s annexation in Crimea. NATO Secretary General said Russia  was seeking to create “a zone of influence through military means”, with “massive militarization” at NATO borders. But German foreign minister has warned that extensive NATO maneuvers launched this month were counterproductive to regional security and could inflame tensions with Russia, so he urged the NATO military alliance to replace the exercises with more dialogue and co-poration with Russia.

opinion

Russia side believes that NATO expansion is a violation of commitments. The expansion will extends to former communistic bloc, the former Soviet Union and the Eastern Europe countries call the Baltic states. Russia is angry because the Anti- Russian military facility is installed in this former communist countries and Russian encirclement have been increasingly strengthened. Russia is also angry that the United States has built the MD base which was banned in public commitments. Russia said that this is not a defense system, it is rather a part of the US nuclear forces. I can understand Russia’s feeling but once this anger led to a war, it will be in a situation irreparable. This case will have to be resolved in a discussion not in a fight as the history has been so.

Refugee and migrants

The U.N. refugee agency announced number of refugees expected this year are 248,000 which is far lower than 1 million it has foreseen. Beyond this number there are the facts of border closures in the Balkans in February and decision made by European Union and Turkey to halt migration to Greece. But this strategy only caused largely static population in urban areas which needs a $670 million budget and could not stop the refugees and migrants motivation to move into Europe. It caused them to facilitate their onward travel further exposing to human rights violations and exploitation.

When I consider about acceptance of refugees and migrants in Japan, I feel Japan has negative policy about it. Japan only admits 11 refugees and 110 refugees to stay for a long time for humanitarian reason out of 5000 refugee applications. This number is obviously low compared with other nations. The refugee issue might cause various anxiety to nations. As I saw referendum of U.K., the refugee issue was one of the trigger for British people to decide to leave the EU. Since Japan has small territory compared with U.K., it is understandable for Japan to accept more the refugees is very difficult. I think Japan should deal this issue through the referendum as U.K.

Belgian authorities have charged three men with terrorism offences, including attempting to commit murder, following a huge overnight operation

Summary

Belgian media reported that militant Islamists may have been planning to attack the football fun zone in Brussels, where Belgium’s games in the Euro 2016 tournament in France are screened. The searches of the incident were conducted overnight in 16 municipalities, mainly around Brussels. As the result, the three man were arrested and charged because they attempted to commit murder through terrorism and participated in a terrorist group. Investigators have established connections between the Brussels and the IS attacks on Paris on 13 November. Several of the Paris bombers came from Belgium and some of the bombs were made in Brussels.

Opinion

I believe free trade and free transportation in Europe made by EU don’t only have good aspects but also have bad aspects. To be sure, they are very useful in terms of the development of industry in Europe to integrate of European economy and to remove borders but terrorists also move or escape easily all over the Europe without identification. Especially, since many European countries border on other countries, it is very dangerous to lose borders. In these days, many refugees escape from Syria or other Middle East countries to European countries and they don’t have the measure to identify their selves. I think some terrorists entry into European countries with a lot of refugees.

In conclusion, I strongly think that free-border countries in EU are involved in terrorism in contrast to many economical merits.

Brexit may bring many confusion

summarise
EHIC, the European Health Insurance Card, has been a familiar system for British people travelling on the continent. It provides British people a reliable medical treatment in their temporary stay in EEA countries plus Switzerland. However, EHIC would be difficult to exist if there’s a Brexit. Whether EHIC remains or not depends on whether UK keeps its bond with EEA. Gemma Sonfield says the UK’s issue on deciding Brexit is about immigration and bordercontrol, which EEA allows, so the UK may follow the Swiss model, that are neither in EU nor EEA but adopting EHIC.

opinion
A few days ago, UK decided to withdraw from EU. This decition will go down in history, certainly. I think this is historic and this event must have an influence on many countries. Not only it but also the problem in UK is so serious, you know. Now I have heard an insistence that Scotland should withdraw from the UK to be left in the EU. If this insistence is realized, it must create big confusion. I think the countries have to help each other if the other country is on the verge of a crisis for example the financial problem of Greek. The person must be same and equal completely and help each other(Damon also said this in class). These days, refugee’s problem is also getting intensified at Europe. Now all countries should unite and confront a problem.

Italian schoolgirl unearths woolly mammoth bone.

Summary

A seven years old girl has found part of a woolly mammoth’s leg bone on a riverbank in northern Italy. The girl’s name is Emma Persico and his father is a paleontologist. One day, she stumbled upon the fossilized chunk of tibia while walking along the River Po near the northern city of Cremona. However, her father didn’t notice it when he saw it firstly. There are mammoths in the region at least 12,000years ago. So, mammoth’s bone is rare. Now, the bone is in a local museum, and will be put on display alongside a plaque with Emma’s name on it.

Opinion

Seeing the article, I feel two things. Firstly, I think that the girl is very lucky. If her father were not a paleontologist, people would notice the mammoth’s bone rare. She maybe have a sense of fossil discovery, affected by her father. Secondly, I remember the news which I heard several years ago. It is the news that a boy found a new variety of dinosaur’s bone in Fukui prefecture of Japan. He was interested in dinosaur before finding dinosaur’s bone. His dream is a paleontologist. So, I expect that she become a paleontologist, too. I think she will become a good paleontologist.
