Chicago Cubs end 108- year wait for win

Summary

The Chicago Cubs had never won a World Series game for a long time, so some people assumed that they were under a curse and that they would never win it again.

However, in 2016, the Chicago Cubs won a World Series game for the first time in 108 years.

Finally, a lot of Cubs fans wrote their names and words of congratulations on Wrigrey’s brick walls for the great victory.

My opinion

For a long time, there is no lively person on the Chicago Cubs, so they couldn’t win a world Series game. However, in the post-season this year, a very very important baseball player joined the team. His name is Munenori Kawasaki, a Japanese superstar. He is a reserve player, but he always have a good effect on his teammates even though he is not good at speaking English.

Certainly, hitting a home run over the fence is important, but that’s not all about baseball. Benchwarmer is also very important. Of course, Munenori Kawasaki is the best benchwarmer in the world and he deserves the championship title. It is not too much to say that he brought victory to the team.

 

China service sector growth slows in September, but remained at solid clip.

Summery

China’s services sector created jobs at the fastest pace in seven months in September. Therefore, employment rose for the first time in three months. However, according to economists, China needs more structual reforms and fiscal support to encourage economic growth. Fiscal policy needs to continue to support the economy, because there is insufficient growth momentum on its own.

My opinion

In China, the gulf between rich and poor is very wide. There are a lot of people in agricultural villages, but most of them cannot earn enough money. Therefore,  some of them have to abandon rural life for the cities, although there is no guarantee that they will be able to get good jobs. On the other hand, in urban areas, a few people have a lot of money. That’s why the Chinese economy cannot get maturity. I think that this cuurent situation in China is very serious. They need structual reforms; otherwise, poor people will bow to poverty and  there will stir up many antigovernment riots.

In Japan, a lot of people, especially women, want the Japanese Government to build more nursery schools. Due to the lack of nursery schools, some mothers are facing the risk of  losing their jobs or a chance to start work. Therefore, in this election of the members of the House of Councillors, the major point at issue are the monthly salaries of nursery school staff and infrastructures for child care and nursing care. However,the problem is long standing and will not be resolved in a day.

My opinion

This problem is very serious,and it is too difficult for politicians to change the situation. Generally, in Japan, politicians have a lot of money, so they never have a hard time bring up their children. If you don’t have much money, you won’t be able to run for the election. I think that we have no choice but to hold a huge demonstration.

 

What I believe

I believe that “Universal Designs” are very important for everyone to lead a happy life. Thanks to the designs, our society will be much more comfortable to live. Especially in Japan, there are a lot of good designs for people with physical disabilities.

First, when you get on a train, you will see a lot of yellow blocks. They were invented for people with impaired visions. In a railway station, every block has extream uneveness. For people without any physical disabilities, they are sometimes obstruction. However, if there were no blocks, visually impaired people couldn’t get on trains safely. They are aware of approaching dangers by using these blocks.

Next, for wheelchair users, steep stairs are not convenient. They are very dangerous. Therefore, in Japan, there are gentre slopes next to stairs. Thanks to slopes, they can go up by themselves.

Of course, slope is not only for wheelchair users but also for elderly people. In general, human grows frail under the weight of years, so almost all of elderly people often have a hard time going up and down stairs. They will have really bad pain in their knees. We can say that gentle slope is much more comfortable than steep staires for the elderly.

By the way, have you ever seen a big mirror in an elevator? I think most Japanese have seen it, but only a few people might know the reason why there is such a mirror. Actually, it is not necessary for people without any physical disabilities, but essential for wheelchair users. When you are in a wheelchair, it is very difficult for you to turn around and look back. For that reason, you need to back away without looking back when you get off an elevator . However, thanks to a mirror, they can see their back and get off safely.

In conclusion, we should create more and more good designs and make our society more comfortable for everyone, including people with physical disabilities. Certainly, Japan has a lot of good designs, but I don’t think it is enough. Even if you don’t have any physical disabilities, you should always think about people having some troubles.

 

Nato troops begin huge military exercise in Poland

Summery

Recently, Russia increased its military capacity and annexed Crimia two years ago, so there’s been a heightened sense of alarm in eastern  Europe. Finally, Nato countries took part in their biggest ever joint military exercises in Poland, and Nato troops closed to the frontiers between Poland and Russia. As a result, Russia fears the troops are a threat to its security.

Opinion

This story is very funny.  Originally, Russia is to blame for this huge military exercise in Poland. Russia shouldn’t have annexed Crimia, but he did without any permission. Certainly, Putin Vladimir is a great politician. He is very strong and good at Judo. However, this annexion was too aggressive. It is natural that Nato countries should be concerned about a potential threat from Russia. Of course, Japan is involved in this international affairs because Japan and Russia have the Northan Territories issue. We have to solve the problem soon, or Hokkaido will be a Russian territory like Crimia.

 

 

Colombia and Farc rebels agreed

 Summary

 In Colombia, there is a dangerous left-wing gruop. The name of the group is “Farc rebels”.  The members of Farc are very guilty because they recuruit child soldiers. Unfortunately, the child soldiers always are victims of war, so the UN and other agencies helped them to reintegrate to society.

 In addition, Colombia government has agreed a road map for the release of child soldiers from “Farc rebels”, and it has been transformed into a political party. Thanks to these attemps, peace may finally return to Colombia.

 My opinion

 In my opinion,I am sorry to say that the peace of Colombia must be a brief one, because there are still great inequalities of wealth in the society.  Unless the government gets rid of the inequalities, a lot of people will be poorer and poorer. Without fail, they will be disatisfied with the government and raise an antigovernment riot again.
