Taiwan Elects Its First Female President

Tsai Ing-wen has been sworn in as the new president of Taiwan, becoming the country’s first female leader. Tsai’s Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) won parliamentary and presidential elections by a landslide in January on a voter backlash against creeping dependence on China. Tsai called for Taiwan and Beijing to “set aside the baggage of history, and engage in positive dialogue, for the benefit of the people on both sides”.

There are many countries that have not had a woman president or prime minister. For example, Japan never had female prime minister even though Japan had prime minister since 1885. I think a woman can make a successful president or prime minister because women and men have equal skills. I believe that a woman can do anything a man can do. Some men are stronger than women, but the job of a president does not involve physical strength. Both men and women can be truthful and fair.. They’re both smart and can make good choices. The reason some people don’t think it can be done is because they never give them a chance. Women just need a chance.
