Chicago Cubs won the 2016 World Series. The last victory of World Series is 1908. It is 108 years ago. The Cubs is a bogey team and have the curse which was called “Billy Goat”. In 1945, Billy liked the Cubs and went to the play field with goat, but Billy’s goat was allowed in the field in the World Series game. So, Billy was angry and said “Them Cubs, they ain’t gonna win no more!” The Cubs haven’t won the World Series since this incident. This is “Billy Goat”. At present, the Cleveland Indians is the team with the longest dry spell between championships. The team last won the World Series in 1948.
Opinion
I don’t know much about Chicago Cubs, but I think that a bogey team’s victory is great. The team’s fans get into swing for the victory. It excites much audience for a bogey team to win against a strong team. There are bogey teams in Japan. I know Rakuten and Hiroshima Carp as bogey teams. Both teams are baseball teams. Rakuten have ever won only one time in Japan series. However the victory encouraged many people. Especially, people in Tohoku area were encouraged because Rakuten’s home is Sendai in Tohoku area. Hiroshima Carp is a poor team. It has many core fans in Hiroshima. So, Carp advanced to Japan series this year.
The report of Institute for Fiscal Studies tell us that today’s thirty-something people are half as wealthy as the same age people ten years ago. In particular, the average wealth of people born in 1970s is ￡53,000, but people born in 1980s have a wealth of ￡27,000 averagely. According the think tank, people born in 1980s were the first post war generation and didn’t get higher incomes in early adulthood than people born in 1970s. So, people born in 1980s have missed out on house price increases and better pensions. One of the causes of this situation is a great recession in this article.
My opinion
I feel it is very important news for all young people including me, because all future generations maybe have lower incomes than the preceding generations. It means that our generation is poorer than 1980’s generation. This article says the problem of UK society, but it is Japanese problem also. Japan has the long recession called “lost 20 years” and Japanese elderly people have a lot of property against Japanese younger people. A part of young people can’t buy a house and get married because they have small incomes. We should solve the problem that is poverty of young generations as soon as possible.
Steven Soderbergh is producing and may direct a film about the Panama Papers. The Panama Papers is the staggering leak of financial data that gave details about how the wealthiest people in the world hide their money in offshore trusts and shell companies. The film, a co-production of Grey Matter Productions and Anonymous Content, will be an adaptation of journalist Jake Bernstein’s upcoming book Secrecy World. No casting details are available, the book won’t be published until the fall of 2017, but the producers can strike some names off their list right away: Jackie Chan, Emilio Estevez, and Emma Watson all appeared in the data leak.

I wasn’t surprised at Panama Papers when I heard the data firstly. I know exist of tax heaven and hiding the wealthiest people’s money. However, I think it is not bad. The wealthiest people hate to pay tax. I don’t like it, too. So, I think tax saving is good but tax evasion is bad. Their difference is lawful means or unlawful means.
By the way, I’m interested in the movie about the Panama Papers. Nonfiction movies tell me the nonfiction incident. Watching the movies, I can get knowledge of history. So, I’m interested in the movie about the Panama Papers and I like nonfiction movies.
I believe that global warming has several demerits for human being. Global warming is one of the biggest issues in the world. It is caused by greenhouse gases, for example CO2. These gases warm up the earth like greenhouse. A lot of countries, organizations and citizens effort to prevent global warming. However, the average temperature of the earth goes on raise. We begin to feel the effects of global warming. It is not future issue but present issue. So, I’ll talk about four main demerits of global warming.
Firstly, the demerit is that the land becomes small. It is the most famous demerit in global warming. Heating the earth, the ices on the earth melt and become a part of sea. Sea level raises and land becomes small. Especially, melting Antarctic ice is the important factor of raising sea level. Antarctic ice puts on Antarctic continent. It has strong influence on sea revel. That land become small is that a lot of people lose their living place. Already in a part of tiny island countries people can’t live their country by their island sinking.
Next demerit is to increase a number of diseases. For global warming, temperature of cold areas raises. Hot areas, for example tropical rain forest, have a lot of diseases. There are the sources of infection like tiny insects and animals. Even these sources of infection couldn’t live in cold area, including Europe, America and Japan and so on. However, if temperature of cold areas rises for global warming, the sources of infection will be able to live in cold areas and these diseases will increase.
In addition, increasing abnormal weathers is the demerit we feel strongly several years. There are abnormal weathers all over the world because global warming begins to break eco system. In Japan, every summer is cold or very hot like man falls down, and winter is hot or very cold like heavy snows fall. Many tornados happen all over world and collapse houses. These abnormal weathers threaten our safety and prevent people to move.
The final demerit is to decline amount of producing foods. It is relevant to abnormal weathers. The crops being sensitive to heat can’t grow well for global warming. The representative crop being easily affected by hot weather is rice. In future, there is a possibility of not eating rice. Moreover, the crops being strong against hot weather may fail by abnormal weathers. People won’t be able to get a comfortable meat.
All in all, I talked about four main demerit of global warming, land becomes small, diseases increase, many abnormal weathers happen and producing foods decreases. These demerits are very terrible for human being. So, we should prevent to make progress global warming. Already we can see several demerits, but these demerits don’t become the worst conditions. We have a time to act protecting the earth. I think that we never ignore the demerits of global warming.
A seven years old girl has found part of a woolly mammoth’s leg bone on a riverbank in northern Italy. The girl’s name is Emma Persico and his father is a paleontologist. One day, she stumbled upon the fossilized chunk of tibia while walking along the River Po near the northern city of Cremona. However, her father didn’t notice it when he saw it firstly. There are mammoths in the region at least 12,000years ago. So, mammoth’s bone is rare. Now, the bone is in a local museum, and will be put on display alongside a plaque with Emma’s name on it.

Seeing the article, I feel two things. Firstly, I think that the girl is very lucky. If her father were not a paleontologist, people would notice the mammoth’s bone rare. She maybe have a sense of fossil discovery, affected by her father. Secondly, I remember the news which I heard several years ago. It is the news that a boy found a new variety of dinosaur’s bone in Fukui prefecture of Japan. He was interested in dinosaur before finding dinosaur’s bone. His dream is a paleontologist. So, I expect that she become a paleontologist, too. I think she will become a good paleontologist.
At least 30 people were killed April 11 Sunday in traffic accidents across Peru, which was holding local elections nationwide. There are the three scenes of the accidents mainly. Firstly, it is the city of Bolognesi. 18 people were killed and 11 people were injured. Secondly, the scene of accident is central Huanuco. Five people were killed. Finally, seven policeman were killed in the northern city of Trujillo. There are two factor happening these accident. One is that voting is mandatory in Peru. Another is lax traffic enforcement.
My opinion
When I saw this article firstly, I didn’t image this situation. Firstly, I was surprised that voting is mandatory. In Japan, voting is not mandatory but right. So, Japan has the problem that people don’t vote. I think Japan should try to make vote mandatory for low voting rate. By the way, a classmate said that these accident were plots of candidate. However, I don’t think so. It is reason why 30 people death don’t influence election mostly. So, I think these accidents are caused by Peruvian society. Especially, lax traffic enforcement is the serious problem. This problem increase road accident when no election, too. Peru should improve traffic condition and this is the best way decreasing road accident.
