What I believe

I believe in karma. Karma is the Buddhist belief that whatever you do comes back to you. For example, if you do something good, something good will happen to you, and if you do something bad, something bad will happen to you. More simple meaning is treat others the way you would want to be treated. I learned the word karma when I was in middle school. Karma is still in my mind and I think Karma made my personality development even though I am not a Buddhist.

In my past experience, I have seen many bad things happen to people who have done wrong things to other people. I thought in my head, it finally came back to them and they deserved it. On the other hand, I have seen many cases that people doing good things, and they eventually awarded for what they have done, even if it is a small thing. Just take the time out and think about it. Have you ever wondered or said to yourself, “Why is this happening to me?” but then you realize when you think about it that you might actually have deserved it.

I have my own experience too. When I was in middle school I didn’t behave well. I always talk to my friends during the teacher is talking. I also did not listen to what my baseball coach said because I thought I was doing right thing. After several days, my school record dropped a lot. I also did not do well on baseball which made me to sit on the bench. Not only school work and sport but also I had hard time with my friends. I had a big fight with my friend which made so long to reconcile with him.

After I graduated from middle school, I change my mind. I try to behave well in high school. I always listen to what the teacher said and I always concentrated in the class. I also listened to baseball coach with an open mind. Moreover I did many volunteers to help people who are handicapped. After few weeks of doing such things, I got really good mark in the every subjects and I was elected on the city all-star baseball game. I also had great time with my friends and family.

To summarize, karma is the invisible power that balances the universe. People’s action have consequences. Our world today is just a reflection of our past. We can create our destiny by how we behave or act. I think believing in karma will make you grow as a person.
