Rwanda:Landslides caused by heavy rains kill dozens

Summary

About 50 people have been killed by landslides caused by heavy rains over the weekend in Rwanda. And sadly, most of the victims are believed to have been children. In the northern area, more than 500 homes are also destroyed and the country’s infrastructure has been damaged by the downpours. The nation’s serious problem is “erosion” because Rwanda, the densely populated country, is made up of hills and valleys, and this season is much more heavier rainy days than usual. Authorities in some East African countries have thought that the El Nino weather phenomenon has caused this heavier rainy season.

Opinion

What we have to think is the balance between developments and natural conditions. To live better, some developments are important. However, on the other hand, the environment may be destroyed. And we must avoid the situation that modern buildings and products cause danger, because of the ignorance of nature. For example, in China, rapid industrialization has brought about some serious environmental issues. I suppose you have seen the news about PM 2.5 problems. This article also says that Rwanda’s government has moved some people to safety areas. In my opinion, the state should have more surmised some dangerous occurrences. Therefore, we have to discuss many environmental problems further.

Selling animals

summary

The article says that Zimbabwe parks authority sells animals due to drought. Drought prevent grassland from growing and cause lack of water. That’s why Zimbabwe parks authority tries to decrease the number of animals in the park. Moreover Zimbabwe parks authority intends to not only sell animals but also allow hunters to kill animals. Minister says this money will be used to buy food and secure water facilities for distressed animals.

My opinion
Because it is difficult to think how to solve drought, I would like to think about how to save animals. Although this measure accordingly help life of animals in the park, it should not be permitted to kill animals. I think it is strange to sell or kill animal in the park where naturally we enjoy to see animals.130 I think there are other ways not to kill animals. For example, I think it is possible to sell animals other parks or zoo. This way would prevent animals from being killed. In conclusion , I think we should be kind to animals and we human and animals can exist together.

Uganda’s plan for building a pipeline

Summary

Landlocked Uganda has announced it will build a major pipeline to export its oil through Tanzania in Kampala at a summit of the East African Community bloc with Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda and South Sudan.

Uganda had planned to send the pipeline through Kenya, which wanted a joint facility for oil from its own fields that are under development. It is concerned about possible attacks by Somalia’s al-shabab Islamists because of further south. It is said that it costs about 4 billions creates 15000 jobs. It suggests that Uganda backed the Tanzanian route because the country’s port of Tanga is already fully operational, while Kenya’s Lamu ports still being built.

Opinion

I think the reports is good idea, so I find the important things.

First, it is that the east Africa which is not productive area will become the big country to product much oil after a few years. Because the demand from many country gets higher to product oil, the economy in Africa may develop. Also, the project needs many people, so the many worker is turned out. It means that it helps the economy and jobs.

Second, it will affect all over the world. The oil in Africa contains less sulfur than other countries, so We Japan, Asia which consume much oil will take on it still more and it is able to keep the relation between supply and demand in balance.

In these reason, I think the report is good idea for their own country and other country.

Don not buy death- Somalis urged to stay and rebuild their country

Summary:
According to the article, we will know that a lot of Somalis now are escaping from their country. Because there is not only a horrific drought, but also an armed insurgency, and which makes people to acquire humanitarian assistance. Based on the United Nations around 15% of Somali citizens were living abroad last year. And increasing annually. However, there is another kind of people. Mr. Abdinur, who said in the last 12 months I have survived two suicide attacks and I have never decided to leave for security reasons. Death is everywhere, suicide attacks happen in Paris and around the word, if citizens all decided to leave our county because of unemployment or insecurity, so who will rescue this country?

Personal Opinion
As far as I am concerned, I disagree with the ideal of Mr. Abdinur. And I have two reasons which can reinforce my opinion.
Firstly, I know Europa is not safe place now. Because Europa is under the situation of terrorism. But if you think deeply, you will find out that Europa still has strong security, and it will save people from terrorism. However, Somali does not have that. It means, perhaps same suicide attacks will result different dead people.
Secondly, as a common sense, we must acknowledge that rebuild a country is not only need common citizens, but also need educated people. Nevertheless, citizens who living in Somali will not be able to obtain a quite education.
Thus, I think the best way is leaving Somali, and once the opportunity has become, Somalis come back to rebuild their country.

How to eliminate malaria?

According to a WHO report, six countries in Africa could be free of malaria by 2020. One of the goals of WHO’s program against malaria is to wipe out the disease in at least 10 countries by the end of this decade.
In South Africa the elimination of malaria is a public health objective. The WHO report said, “through targeted action and cross-border collaboration, South Africa has the potential to eliminate malaria by 2020.”
About 200 million people suffered from malaria last year of which about 400,000 died from the disease, according to the organization.
After I read the article, at first, I thought why we can’t eradicate malaria though technology has developed. If we have used technology more effectively, the number of the patients could decrease, I thought.
But after I discussed with my classmates, I found that technology and the disease have little relation. And patients who infected malaria should have correct knowledge of it. This is more important than developed technology.
Then, how patients have correct knowledge? I think that international organization needs to educate people in Africa. If it do so, they can defend themselves against malaria.

The South Sudanese tribe attacked Ethiopia

Summary

Murle tribe in the South Sudan has attacked the village in the Ethiopia bordering the South Sudan. It was Nuer tribe to have been attacked and more than 200 people were killed and 100 children were abducted by Murle. Like this attack has frequently occurred in this region for the purpose of stuff, livestock, lands and the right of posture. To this situation, Reda Ethiopian minister of communication mentioned that the relation between the countries was good. In the South Sudan, a civil war has occurred since 2013.

Opinion

The South Sudan is young country which became independent from Sudan in 2011. Therefore the government has not had a power enough to control its nation yet. Now a civil war also brakes out in the South Sudan. They were originally occurred from the political issue between the former and present presidents. They are in opposite tribes that this issue moved to the one between tribes. As consequence, the South Sudan isn’t far from developing infrastructure and is sinking into poverty. That’s why I think Murle tribe come to have such a purpose. Although the minister sais that the relationship is good, the situation will be bad if tribe disputes continue to occur and expand beyond the border. Now it is necessary for the South Sudanese government to have a power enough to control the country.

Concerns about Somalian emigrants

Summary

According to the United Nations around 15% of Somali citizens migrated to other countries last year because of a horrible drought and an armed insurgency in Somalia.

Abdinur Mohamed Ahmed, who is based in the capital of Somalia, appealed to his fellow not to leave their country by using Twitter. He claims that they have no reasons to emigrate because of insecurity since suicide attacks actually happened in Europe. And besides, he is worried about the impact which migrants will make on the future of Somalia.

Opinion

We need to think about this issue from two points of view.

Firstly, immigrating to Europe. There were some suicide attacks not only in Somalia but also in Europe, as like Abdinur said, so we cannot ignore the fact that the danger of terrorism is close to us. However, people in Europe are much safer than in Somalia when we consider about it objectively.

Secondly, future of Somalia. It is exactly as Abdinur say, if many of them leave their country, Somalia cannot exist. So I suggest repatriation which can solve this problem. They had better wait and see until the situation settles down, and they back home to rebuild their country.

Ghana missing first 10 fastest growing economies in Africa

Summary

According to the IMF, Ivory Coast is Africa’s fastest growing economy. Its economy has benefited from government policies and structural reforms, which have resulted in strong inclusive growth. Following in second place is Tanzania, with projected growth of just under 7% this year. Senegal completes the top three, with 6.6%. The World Economic Forum on Africa 2016 will take place in Kigali, Rwanda from 11-13 May. It will highlight the need for diversification in order to ensure inclusive economic growth.

Opinion

I think Africa has improved dramatically in a few years. According to this article, compared with much of developed world, economic growth is relatively high in Africa, and GDP in many African countries is projected to grow by over 2% this year. I think a motive power of this Africa’s economic growth is abundant underground resources. I heard that there are much gold, silver, copper, nickel, rare earth in south Africa. By continuing this industry, Africa will be able to become developed countries. However, Africa still has a lot of problems, for example, starvation, penury, the commodities slump, currency devaluations, geo-security and so on. So, all governments of Africa should recognize such problems that African economies face. If the Fourth Industrial Revolution will happen in Africa, that will help growth of Africa.

EgyptAir hijacking:Passenger posed for selfie with captor

Summary:Ben Innes, a passenger on a hijacked Egyptian plane, took a photo with a hijacker who has what looks like an explosive belt around his waist. The reason Mr.Innes asked the hijacker to do a selfie with him was to take a chance to get a closer look at his bomb. The photograph, Mr.Innes stands next to the hijacker with a broad smile, widely shared on Twitter. Mr.Innes said “It has to be the best selfie ever.”

Opinion:“Brave” is the very word to express my impression to Mr.Innes. If the hijacker’s bomb had been real, maybe Mr.Innes and the other passengers have died. Nevertheless, he bravely went up to the hijacker and took a photo with the man. If I were in his place, I couldn’t anything. Truthfully, I can’t come up with what he did. So, I respect his bravery and wit. It appears that the reason the hijacker forced to change the distination was to see his divorced wife. From this point, essentially the hijacker is tender person. It can’t say that his way to go to see his divorced wife was good, but his love for wife is true. I want to be a tender person like him.

Summary and my opinion about South Sudan

In the village in Ethopia bordering the South Sudan, citizens of more than 200 people died and hundreds of children have been taken away. Furthermore,2000 livestock were stoken.

The beginning of the case is that Murle tribe in South Sudan has invaded without permission of Ethiopian government suddenly. The tribe attacked Nuer tribe living between the two countries. Why did Murle attack Nuer? Because they need slave of the children for the purpose to make them work. In addition, they want to get livestock, lands, resources such as water and pasture right and so on.

To defeat this situation, the military of Ethiopia has killed 60 people of Murle tribe. however, the total number of them is not known.

Though there is it under such situation, the Leda communication phase emphasizes the relationship between the South Sudan government and Ethiopia is good.

My wanting you to pay attention here is that means  it is a tribe and a fight of a tribe not the fight of a country and the country. Why did such a situation happen?  Because South Sudan has been independent from Sudan recently, so South Sudan was not accompanied with political power. Therefore,It is thought that it was developed into civil war without being able to control a tribe.
