The other day, we discussed global news about entertainment. Following is the summary and my opinion.

A British singer, Ed Sheeran has finished his concert tour and announced that he is taking a break. He is 24 years old and famous singer. He will spend the term staying at home. What has caused him pause is the operation of his ear. During the last summer vacation, he injured his ear drum. In detail, he jumped high from a yacht and hardly hit. So, he have to transplant and was forced to take a break about for one year.

I searched him and found out that he was granted several awards in the past. He is famous and has great influence. In addition, he made an act of charity. For example, he established a care hospital and financed for his charity works. I think these action is wonderful because the action leads greater results. His action inspired people who likes him or his song. He is really good singer, so there are a lot of people who is under the influence of his action. I think helping the other people is good thing and spreading this thought widely is better thing.

The other day, we discussed technological news about NASA. Following are its summary and my opinion.

NASA has recruited astronauts who will be working preparation for their journey to Mars. And its application guidelines are hard. In fact, NASA wants people who is a US citizen, has great intelligence and have to be accomplished, and must pass the NASA long-duration spaceflight physical test if the application goes forward. NASA and the US astronauts are leading-edge of space flight missions.

In my opinion, space development program will advance steadily and Japan should cooperate with international plans and not to get off to a late start. I am browsing the homepage of NASA and JAXA. Then, I found out the plan of International Space Station (ISS). This is a project that started since 1984 and created an international station in the space. The station is about the same size of a soccer court. The US, Russia, Canada, European countries and Japan made its component elements and operate the parts with responsibility. Japan has a major role of the plan. For example, HIV (H-II Transfer Vehicle), is known for the name kounotori, has grate play as a supply machine. In this way, Japan should work together with international and progress in an area of the space.

The other day, we discussed political news in Japan. The follows are its summary and my opinion.

There will be Olympic Games at Tokyo in 2020 and some big troubles have happened. One of such troubles is Tokyo’s National Stadium. What is problem is an original constructional plan, made by Zaha Hadid, is too cost to construct. In fact, it costs more than two hundred and fifty billion yen, so many people opposed this plan. In addition, because of its massive size and ultra-modern shape, there is nothing for it but to return to the blank. Therefore, the construction may not be ready by 2020, and then, Hakubun Shimomura took responsibility and resigned his post.

In my opinion, construction of Tokyo’s National Stadium is a complex problem. At first, where the responsibility lies is unknown. Yoshiro Mori, who is present of Tokyo’s organizing committee, and who prevent Shimomura’s resignation, said that we are not related with the problem and also said that two hundred and fifty-two billion yen is relatively cheap. I think he didn’t fulfill a responsibility of explanation. He must be front line of the trouble. And Shimomura should have not escape. Second, it’s unclear who to take charge of the cost. Ultimately, the citizen will do, but now Tokyo Metropolis don’t agree with the Nation, Tokyo’s organizing committee. There are a lot of cost’s problems such as support of the earthquake and pension benefit, hence, it is necessary to cooperate together for solution.

I listened to a speech of “Leather and meat without killing animals”. The following is the summary and my opinion.

Today, people kill billions of animals as resources like leather or meat. In fact, this is wasteful and inappropriate action. People can make animal products without sacrificing animals by using biofabricating technology. The biofabrication is very useful and have a lot of benefits. It enable to make leather, tissues and organs. We should start biofabrication to make leather at first because this is technically simple. In addition, people can change its quality as they want. And, because of not having to kill animals, it is good for environment and public health. Biofabrication is natural evolution of human.

In my opinion, biofabrication is innovative technology and should be promoted by governments. Because it is unknown area, more understanding of people is necessary. But, it is fully worth being discussed. I agree with the advancement for following reasons.

First, it is sufficient without slaughtering animals. All animals are living being just like human being. It can’t be helped kill for human life, but there is an alternative means. In this sense, biofabricating technology is great from a humanitarian point of view.

Second, it is good for the environment and public health. Enormous number of animals that are only used for food or closes possess a lot of land, use resources and course global warming. In addition, contact with animals directly may course infectious diseases.

Of course, there are some problems of biofabrication. For example, in a period of transition, the gap between rich and poor may widen. That is because, only limited people utilize biobablication and the others can’t do anything. In addition, people who work raising animals may be criticized or are forced to quit their jobs.

In order to resolve such problems, supports of governments are necessary.

In conclusion, the biofabrication is worth being promoted by governments.

The other day, we discussed social problems in North America. The following is the summary and my opinion.

A mysterious event happened in waters around Alaska. Though scientists rarely see dead fin, some people have reported seeing dead fin whales. Because the bodies of dead whales were uninjured, the cause isn’t related to predators. So, scientists suspect that the cause is related to something which the whales ate. That is, scientists suppose that whales ate something that is poison humans made. However, because living thing that were sacrificed is just one species ‘whale’, the true cause isn’t clear.

Recently, I often hear about such events. Just in Japan, a lot of fish have died at Kasairinkai aquarium with unknown cause. In my opinion, the cause is surely something human made. For example, it may be caused by genetically modified food. The GM food is widely spread now, and it is said that nobody knows what will happen in the future by the GM food. That is dangerous and terrible. It probably have a bad influence on some living things. In short, the GM food destroy an ecosystem just like this event. Human beings must not have a right of destroying the ecosystem. I think we have done whatever we like, and must reflect on our conduct and deal with the present condition.

The other day, we discussed social problems in South Africa. The following is the summary and my opinion.

There has been a large-scale deportation in South Africa. About more than 400 Mozambicans have been expelled from the country. That is one of the reactions of mood of xenophobic, hating foreigners.

The present state in South Africa, the unemployment rate is 24 percent. And many unemployment of the local people accuse foreigners of taking their jobs. This condition created a mood of xenophobic, and in April, at least 7 people died of the mobs’ attacks. A government statement said that more than 3900 people, including 1650 illegal immigrants, had been arrested since April.

In my opinion, surely illegal immigrants largely affect local people’s job. First of all, illegal immigrants usually find low paid jobs and get them. The low paid jobs probably mean manual, physical job. So, those jobs don’t need high skills or education such as economy, technology or language. Therefore, local people are forced to work with low wages or lose their jobs because illegal immigrants really want to work even with low wages. The next stage, gradually, the salary of the whole society is driven down.

One of the solution strategy is eliminating illegal immigrants anyway. In fact, South Africa did it. However, I think some indemnify is certainly necessary. That is because deported people are suddenly changed their life. Doing nothing is cruel treatment for them. From the viewpoint of this, South Africa did unfair and wrong action.

The other day, we discussed about a report of Senkaku problem. Following is the summary and my opinion.

Japan and Taiwan signed a fisheries agreement which is concerned with a right of fishing. The agreement allows Taiwan to fish within 19km of the islands, Senkaku. After the announcement, China expressed opposition to the agreement and state “extreme concerns”.

Between Japan and China, there have been serious territorial issues about Senkaku islands. Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary said that the islands are Japanese territory from the first, so the agreement had no relation to the territorial dispute. However, because there of marine resources such as rich fishing grounds and oil deposits, China strongly has opposed the Japanese possession of the islands.

Many analysts believe that Japan want to keep away China and Taiwan from territorial dispute making use of this deal.

In my opinion, Chinese interference such as expressing “extreme concerns” is wrong action. That is because Chinese insistence suddenly happened after around 1970 when they found the fact that there are oil resources around Senkaku islands. That means that China insist their right of possession entirely because of marine resources of the islands. So, Chinese assertion is improper and the islands is surely Japanese territory from a historical point of view.
