【Summary】

The Japanese soccer team Gamba Osaka’s Brazilian striker Patric was faced racial discrimination. He is considering taking Japanese citizenship to play for Japan at the 2018 world cup finals. But on Twitter, one of the Urawa supporter criticized him as black. Patric said, “I was very disappointed. I’m proud to be black, and I really like Japan. Japan is the most well-mannered country, so I’ve never dreamt to be received racial discrimination in this country.”

 

【Opinion】

I’m very sad to hear this news. As Japan is an island country, it doesn’t have a lot of races from ancient times. So maybe it was difficult to recognize as a “Japanese” when they saw the parson whose skin color is different from theirs.  However, now the world globalization is increasing and it is natural for various people to live in Japan. Many people work in Japan and contribute for Japan. Like this article, there are lots of foreigners who wanted to play in Japan as Japanese. Though It is hard how to consider to a person as a Japanese, I think if they have their mind to play for Japan, make a contribution to Japan and like this country, they are Japanese.

【Summary】

Wales has started the new system of organ donation. In this system, people should donate their organs if they don’t declare their intention that they won’t give them. It aims to increase the number of donors, and 34% of the population have already registered to opt in. The Health Minister in Wales said that the revolution will be an important cultural change.

 

【Opinion】

When I red this article, I was very surprised because I’ve never hard the law like this. In many country, including Japan, people who want to donate their organs will unfold their mind. I take objection to this law. Organ donation isn’t easy decision for many people, so I think it isn’t good to make it a law. Moreover, science has made remarkable progress in recent year. One of a good example is “iPS cell”.  We can make a new organ with this cell. So I think it is not necessary to make the law that everybody must make organ donation.

【Summary】

China’s economy is slowing down. An average annual growth rate has decreased 10% to 7.4%. The IMF said that China is moving to a ‘new normal’, characterized by slower yet safer and more sustainable growth. A new normal  is needed because　previous Chinese system becomes weak. The graying of society makes it difficult to contribute to the economy. Investment is another source of growth, but China’s investment level is already extremely high. So it is difficult to find the way to break a crisis.

【Opinion】

In the last class, we talked about this topic with my partner and think why Chinese economy is slowing down. As this article says, I think the factor is the decrease of workers by the ageing population. A lot of company from abroad have expanded to China, and many products all over the world are made in China. This is because the wage is low in China. So decrease of workers becomes the serious injury　for China.

But ageing population is not only problem for China but also Japan. In Japan, it is remarkable in agriculture. The farmhouse faces the issue of successor, and the self-sufficient rate of food decreases, too. So we have to think about this problem seriously, and lead a solution.

The speaker  insists that it is not good to kill animals for our food and clothing. He suggests to apply biofabrication to what we eat and what we wear. It is a technology  proliferating cells to grow biological products. He says animals are not just raw materials, they are living beings. We need to move pass just killing animals as resource. Biofabrication will make it possible.

Of course it is terrible at the point of taking the lives of animals, but I think it is not bad to eat animals. I have two reasons.

First, we take in various nutrition by eating animals. It may be possible to take nutrition from the meat made by biofabrication, but they are artificial things. Now an artificial sweetener and food additives are made by human and are included in foods, but they are not good for our health. It is worry to continue eating created things by chemicals.

Second, eating living beings has been gone on from the earliest times.  Furthermore, it is done in the nature. A frog eats an insect, a snake eats a frog, and an eagle eats a snake.  “The stronger prey on the weaker” was the rule of the nature, and human beings also survived in such an environment. So it is not bad thing.  Though as human beings’ feeling develop highly, we think sorry to kill animals for our food and clothing. Then we have to appreciate for animals to give their lives. And we must not waste the lives at all. This is what we can do for our food. But if we only eat the meat made by biofabrication, the feeling of thanks for the food will disappear.

From this two reasons, I think it is not bad to eat animals. But what we must not forget is we eat “lives” and so we have to thank for the lives.

【Summary】

Jeb Bush, the younger brother of George W Bush, ran for the US president. He promised to the country’s most vulnerable and remove the barriers to social mobility. And he championed the right of woman, ethnic minorities and the disabled. Though early polling suggests that he has yet to dominate a wide field of Republican candidates, he appeals that “What we need is new leadership that takes conservative principles and applies them so that people can rise up.”

【Opinion】

Ms.Hilary is considered to be superiority by the next presidential election. As Mr.Obama was expected as the black first President, it may be hoped that Ms.Hilary becomes the woman first President. However, the major candidate in the Republican Party is Jeb Bush. Mr. Jeb acted as Florida Governor until 2007. It  was too unfamiliar in Japan, but he had a lot of  support from Hispanic inhabitants because of his gentle policy for the emigrant. He rebuilt economy and he concentrated power on an environmental policy and education improvement and kept a high approval rating till the last. So I thought he is also  deserved to be the President.
