Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang got Caf award

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang got the Confederation of African Football’s player of the year award. In the vote, he got seven points more than Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure. Aubameyang is from Gabon, and now play soccer in the Bundesliga’s league. He thanked his family, team mates and the President of Gabon. The President returned a compliment, describing him as a great Gabonese. And the President thought that he would be a key person when they host the next Africa Cup of Nations in 2017.

To be honest, it is not until I read this artcle that I recognize Aubameyang, who is a star soccer player. For Gabonese children, he is a hero, and he gives dreams to a lot of people in Gabon. As he plays a more active play, Gabon will be famous, and will host the Africa Cup of Nations, I think. So far, in Africa, Cote d’Ivoire and Algeria is strong countries in soccer, but after a several years, Gabon would be stronger than now and turn out star players like Aubameyang.

influence on phones

In the last class, we discussed influence on smartphones, tablets and e-readers. They emit blue light that delays the body clock and keeps people awake later into the evening. A doctor tells that they should have an automatic “bedtime mode” that prevents them from disrupting people’s sleep. As it gets darker in the evening, the body begins to produce the sleep hormone melatonin which helps people asleep. Prof Gringras concluded that there was an obvious trend for new devices to be bigger, brighter, have higher levels of contrast and give off more blue light. The professor of children’s sleep medicine said,” That is great for use in the day, but awful for use at night.

It is true that smartphones, tablets and e-readers have given people various benefit in many fields, but they have had a bad influence on people’s health. As for me, my smartphone prevent me from falling asleep by an extra hour and so do many people. This article tells that manufacturers need to show more “responsibility”. However, I think that people who should need responsibility are childrens’ parents. Their parents have to control their childrens at hand. If their parents control their childrens’ use of smartphones, that would lead to decrease health problems, I think.

UK’s deal to China

In the last class, we discussed economics about the UK. China’s ambassador said that the desirable deal to construct a new nuclear power plant at Hinkley Point in the UK was “in the best interests of Britain and also in the interest of partnership between China and UK.” He thought that UK people eager to have a better life, that is, higher quality of life.
“Now, French is a country that has co-operation with China but in the future, the UK will be the Western country that is most open to China. This is a visionary and strategic choice which fully meets Britain’s own long-term interest.” President Xi thought.

It is true that China has had economic power recently and had a significant influence on world business, but I think that China’s power is decreasing these days because China don’t do well about a deal with countries which have co-operation. So, I don’ think it necessary to trade with China, much less have a deal about nuclear power. Since the Fukushima accident, people in the world have realized that nuclear power is cruel, so we should aim at the world which has no nuclear power at all.

Biofabrication technique

Andras Forgas suggested making leather and meat by the means of biofabrication. Today, we kill animals in order to get leather and meat, but if we could use this technology, we don’t need to kill them anymore. This has various meanings. First, we protect environment, because animals are one of the most consumers of land and fresh water, and they also produce huge amounts of greenhouse gasses which promote global warming. Second, Biofabrication is a industry, which is humanitarian, sustainable and the promise of expansion. For exaple, biofabrication is successful in medicine. Finally, we could be more creative. we could apply biofabrication to various fields.

I think that his idea is creative and innovative. So far, we can’t help killing animals in order to get leather and meat. It is true that this action is so cruel, but in order to survive, we have no choice but to kill animals.
I agree with his idea. I think that biofabrication is better way to get leather and meat than we do today. I have two reasons.
First, as he say, killing animals brings a lot of problems such as the environment. we, human, are a member of the earth, so we must protect the environment for the future.
Second, killing animals as resource is bad deeds not only in ethics but also in science. Animals are creature, as with human. Is it okay to kill animals and not okay to kill human? What is the difference between them? I think that there are no clear answers. Human and animals are equally creature.
Then for example, we know BSE, which is an epidemic disease. It is caused by cow meat and bone meal. However, the meat made by biofabrication is safer. At first, we would be hesitate to eat the meat, but we would get used to eat the meat little by little.

Bangladesh’s happening

In the last class, we discussed the news that the unfortunate accident happened in northern Bangladesh. During the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, rich people donate clothes to poor people. A lot of poor people rushed through a small gate into a factory compound before dawn in order to acquire the free clothes.
Because of this, many people fell on the ground and others ran over them, and they were killed. A police chief told,”Most of dead people are poor and weakened women.” Moreover, another police officer said,”We have found 20 bodies, and the number will increase.” Then police have detained seven people, including the owner of the factory.

Reading the article, I was surprised at the news. In Japan, there are many situations which a rush to the store happen in. However, the accident hardly occur in Japan. What is difference between Japan and Bangladesh? I think that Japanese people are richer than Bangladeshi people, so japanese people are not more desperate to get free clothing than Bangladeshi people. To my surprise, the article says,”many people in Bangladesh fell on the ground and others ran over them, and they were killed.” Why people who ran over them didn’t notice? I hope that they will come to have consideration for others.

Joseph Maud’s sad past

In the last class, we discussed the news that Canada’s history of separating indigenous children from their parents at abusive residential schools has called the practice “cultural genocide”. In 1966, Joseph Maud, who was five-year-old, was separated from his family and forced to live at a Canadian residential school for indigenous students. They had to speak English or Frebch, but Maud only spoke his native language: Ojibwa. If the students spoke their own language, they were maltreated amilyterribly.
His saddest thing was being separated from his family and his relative. He and the residential school survivors used to kneel painfully on the cement chapel floor, because the nuns in charge of their dormitory told them “that’s the only way God hears you.” He cried going down on my knees, and his thoughts were “when is this going to end? Somebody help him.”

Reading the article, I sympathized with him. At first, I thought that Canada was a peace country where there was no discrimination, violence, prosecution and so on. However, in the article, I felt Canada was very similar to the Nazis, which prosecuted Jewish people. It is true that I knew the problems of Quebec a little, but I was surprised to find that in those days, there was a sort of prosecution in Canada. When Joseph Maud was five years old, he was separated from his family. If I were him, I would cry every night, and give up wishes to lead my life. In that point, I think he is stronger mentally though he has suffered from mental hurt. The important thing to protect people from such prosecution is to tell many people their experience like him.

South Africa opposition party elects Maimane first black leader

In last class, we discussed that South Africa opposition party, the Democratic Alliance (DA), had elected its first black leader. The party elected Mr Maimane its leader. He was the most likely person to succeed Helen Zille, who was a outgoing leader, and became party spokesman in 2011. The DA won the 2014 elections, but has worked on perceptions it mainly represents white South Africa. Then Mr Maimane promised cheering supporters that the DA would win power and criticized Mr Zuma for corruption allegations. Helen Zille made no secret of her belief that the party would never threaten the ANC’s eternal control on power if it could not finally stay away from the accusation that it is a “white” party, representing the interests of those who have benefited from decades of racial apartheid. Critics will say that his age, 34, is too young and inexperienced to deserve the position, and that his swift elevation tends to racial tokenism.

Reading the article, I think that racial discrimination is apt to decrease for the first time because such as the U.S., black leaders have emerged little by little. But as critics say, if the action that the DA elected Maimane its first black leader is actually racial tokenism, I suppose that the problems about racial discrimination are still deep rooted. As for me, it is true that I realize racial discrimination is stupid conduct, but I unconsciously might tend to regard foreign people as other kind of people compared with us. The important thing is a attitude to understand each other regardless of skin colors. I think if we came to understand other cultures, thoughts and circumstances and so on, conflicts which happens around the world would decrease and the world would be more peaceful.
