In the last class, we discussed the article about the first black transgender model . The summary and my opinion are as follows.

Tracey “Africa” Norman get plucked from a model casting call for Italian Vogue in 1970s, and she was signed by a top agency. Then became the face of Claiol’s, Avon, and several times photographed for Essence magazine. She had been born as male, but her inside is female. In 70s Black was already faced discrimination based on their skin color and she knew that also transgender would have ended her career and her life so she kept her secret. Now she is 63, she has become an icon to younger transgender performers. Although it can still be unsafe to be out transgender person, she seems ready to embrace her identity.

I think in Japan, transgender people are less accepted in public than in U.S.A. Actually recently celebrities, artists, and entertainers who are transgender increase in the Japanese entertainment world. However they are some kind of character about their gender(ex.”Okama”). Compared to that, in U.S.A they announce their gender separately from their play or performance.

Furthermore, I feel image of media much influence to people. Some fashion brands have appointed the models who are not too much thin, then now we look a little fat people appear on a lot of music video in U.S.A.

It is important the star who is much influential more announce and make reference of social problem.

In the last class, we discussed the article about the new history text books in South Korea . The summary and my opinion are as follows.

(1)Summary

Currently secondly schools can choose textbooks published by eight different publishing companies in South Korea. However, the government has announced that all secondary schools must only use history textbooks issued by the state from 2017. The new textbook will be called “The Correct Textbook of History”. The government will choose its writers from history teachers and academics.The government argued that current history textbooks are too left-leaning and encourage the feelings anti-American and pro-North Korea, However opposition politicians and academics has criticize the move and accuse the government of “distorting history”. History often comes to be issue especially territorial disputes and diplomatic rifts In East Asia,

 

(2)Opinion

I think the government shouldn’t control the history education by using textbooks for three reasons.

First, the move is against to democracy. Government will can choose and tell the information in their favor. Eventually the same party possible give out only biased information and brainwash people politically. I think It is authoritarian and dangerous behavior.Second, there not exist the truth and true in the area of historical education. There is various view and opinion about the same matter. In Japan, a publisher ”Tokyo Syoseki” is different considerably to that of another publisher” Yamakawa”. History should be diversity by necessity.Finally, now young people use internet so they can touch and get any information of history in the world. I think the move distant and nonsense. People should always think from various perspectives for the future of the country.For these three resons, I oppose the move in South Korea.

In the video, he talked about the possibility of biofabrication. The technology can grow human body parts, and it also can meat and leather using of cells themselves. It never suffer and kill animals. I have also known the existence of “3D print” recently. I was surprised to hear that it has already became general. Furthermore there are incidents and crimes involving the use of it happen in the world.

I think biofabrication industry should get accepted and be more popular in the world for two reasons.

First, I had never been interested in animals before I have a dog. Actually, I disliked and felt fear it. However I turned and learned the circumstances that animal was in now in pet business. Now I’m against even pet shops and make it a rule not to buy furs and cosmetics conducted tests on animals. That’s why I agree their activity that don’t cause pain and suffer animals any longer. Animal killing for human desire is wrong.

Second, it cause environmental improvement. It is said we will face the problem lacking in resources like that petroleum oil will run out in 50 years. In addition, there is possibility that the beautiful coral island “great barrier reef” will become extinct because of climate change and global pollution. The technology help to solve these problem in the world.

However, there are some issues of concern about 3D print. First, it is still not practical economically and socially to make a steak meat, sausage, bacon by biofabrication. The technology is fairly costly. Second, 3D print give people a means to get what is undesirable like a weapon or arms.

The organs and tissue made by biofabrication may use in my body in 15 years. It may general to walk with robot. I can’t imagine the future of the world. However we should not inflict unnecessary pain or suffering on environment and animals. I hope　biofabrication industry progress and the world maintain not artificial but natural ecological system. Therefore, for tease reasons I think biofabrication industry should get accepted and be more popular.

 

In the last class, we discussed the article about the immigrants in the Mexican city. The summary and my opinion are as follows.

1, Summery

Since last October, about 10,000 children without a parent have entered the United States. They hope their families will be able to join them. The number of Central Americans arrested at the U.S. border, but they were released and told to return at a later because there was no room to detain them.

Sister Norma Pimentel in McAllen has been dealing with the Central American immigrants. She operates a center for Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley. Recently, the center helped 70 immigrants in one day. Some possible timing for people to cross the border is weather conditions, school schedules, and criminal activity.

2, My Opinion

I think it is very difficult to solve this kind of problem and they need fundamental solution. U.S. should enhance the cooperation with the countries which poor people exist. On the other hand, they should exercise stricter control over  illegal immigrant.

I suggest the policy to improve in it. The governments establish the system that immigrants get an education, work, and skill in the country which accept immigrant, then return to their country for develop of their hometown. I think most important thing for this problem is education for children in the countries which poor people exist for the country’s future. They should not only financial support but also some support not to increase the number of immigrants.

In the last class, we discussed the article about the reopening of schools in Sierra Leone. The summary and my opinion are as follows.

1, Summery

Sierra Leone’s 1.8 million children began the gradual return to school, eight months were shut to halt the spread of the deadly Ebola virus. Classrooms have been empty since the government announced a state of emergency in July last year in response to an outbreak which has killed around 10,500 people, almost all of them in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea.

UNICEF said it is important that all children get into school including those who were out of school before the Ebola outbreak. It said they was working with the government to ensure children for safe by training teachers on ebola prevention, including hand-washing and regular temperature checks. Furthermore, hand-washing stations and cleaning equipment have been supplied in every school to prepare school buildings.

2, My Opinion

I think the most important thing for all kinds of problem in developing country is education for children.

First, this epidemic not only claimed a lot of life but caused serious damage of economic activities. Because of the outbreak, economy in these religion have been shrunk so parents can’t afford to pay tuition. There is an anxiety that the generation which can’t get an education will be created.

Second, in Africa there is a problem that the rate of school attendance is low. Children in the religion have to walk a quite long distance and there is dangerous area where wildlife lives on way to school to go there. Therefore we have to prepare the traffic equipment to commute to school.

Obviously it is important thing to gain wisdom and skill to survival. Education is also important for future of the country.

In the last class, we discussed the article about the incident of football fans in Brazil. The summary and my opinion are as follows.

1, Summery

Eight football fans were gunned down ahead of a semi-final match at the Corinhians fan club headquarters in Sao Paolo. According to the news site G1, at least two men stormed the headquarters and executed people. The team tweeted “Mourning” in white letters on black background, the team’s colors on the day before the match. The violence related football match is widespread in Brazil.

2, Opinion

I wish football lead an opportunity of exchange the nature all over the world. Then the problem must be solved immediately.  I suggest two points of the reason why there have been frequent the cases in Brazil. First, football is more popular than any other kind of sports there. It is said that there are a thousand or ten thousands football teams. I think the teams tend to be connected with its community. Then sometimes it will cause the collisions of fans of each teams. Secondly, I think Brazilian are too become passionate for football. Therefore there is a gap between the rich and the poor, and there are discontent of society. In conclusion, I think the government should improve the peace and order in Brazil and develop the low about it first to solve the problem.
