Today, we talked about an entertainment topic. The topic is about Star Wars. It is one of the most famous films in the world. Now，I will tell you about summary and my opinion.

1 Summary

The premiere of the latest in the Star Wars takes place in LA. This film is the  seventh in the Star Wars series. Fans have gathered outside a cinema since last week. They spend at least 24 hours in a row to buy the tickets. Some cinema websites collapsed due to the weight of demand for tickets.

2 Opinion

I think that Star Wars has a big impact on a lot of people. It is because they change their action and attitude. There are two example.

One is that audience will rush to get the tickets. Some of the fans will gather at a cinema. They will stay up waiting all night. Also, they will go to a store to buy the Star Wars goods. They will be beside themselves with joy.

The other is that the press will be give away an outline about the story. A reporter will take down everything about the film. It will spoil people’s feelings of expectation.

This is why Star Wars will bring a strong effect on a lot of people.

In this class,  we discussed the useful software. I will tell you about the summary and my opinion.

1 Summary

The new software has an ability to identify emotion in speech. The researchers  plan to use it to understand the effects of emotion in parent-child interactions. The software recognizes emotions to identify tone, facial expression.

2 Opinion

I think that this technology is very useful. There are two example. One is that it is difficult for us to understand a baby’s emotion. When he or she is crying, we cannot understand what should I do. So we should use the new software to interact with a baby well. The other is that it is very useful for the elderly. In recent years, a number of elderly people live alone. And they are likely to become demented because they do not have other person to communicate with. This is why the new software is useful for the elderly. However, there is a problem. If we rely on this  software overly, our communication skill will be decreased. It is a serious problem. Now, some of the young cannot control their feeling. It is because they rely on the Internet. In conclusion, I think that the new software will improve our life. On the other hand, we should not rely on it overly.

In the last class, we discussed about political problem between Japan and China.

1 summary

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said the government will consider stopping financial contributions to UNESCO.

It is because UNESCO decided to add Chinese documents on the Nanjing Massacre to the “Memory of the World” program.

The “Documents of the Nanjing Massacre” consists of documents that   shows several Japanese as criminals.

Japanese government protests that UNESCO should be “neutral and fair”, so China should not use the arena of UNESCO.

2 opinion

I think that Japanese government should survey this historical event exactly and explain the government view all over the world.

It is because Japan has yet to tackle this problem.

Japanese announcement is not obvious. For example, the number of victims is much less than that of Chinese announcement.

Of course, I do not support China, but I cannot consent the current explanation.

Japanese government said China use this historical problem to improve their political status.

But I think that Japan should not make a complaint. Rather, Japanese government should get along with China.

43 years ago, the Japan-China Treaty of Peace and Friendship was concluded. After that, cultural exchanges between the two nations have become very active. A lot of people make a profit on a transaction.

That is why I want Japanese government to deal with this problem properly, and have a good relationship with China.

I introduce about my opinion after listening the presentation made by Mr. Forgacs.

He proposed that biofabrication will not only grow human body parts, but also grow animal products like meat and leather.

I think that his proposed technology is very innovative, and it brings an alternative way to slaughter animals. It can become the solution to many problems around the world.

I think that there are two benefits of his idea.

First, it relieve a lot of animals. Now, we are taking lives of livestock. In the old days, I thought that there was no help for it. But the speaker says that livestock is a factor in global warming. A farmer gives livestock a lot of grass. This cause a reduction of grass, and promote rising of the temperature. But if his idea is introduced, a necessity of feeding will vanish. So we do not have to worry about environmental problem, and many endangered species will survive. Also, it reduce the number of disease caused by animals. In recent years, a number of epidemics are raging all over the world. Their origin is mostly animal such as pigs, cows and chickens. If the new technology become the main current, we do not have to worry about health problem, and human beings can live comfortably.

Second, it extend the variety of leather goods. The production of biofrabricated leather is easier than real leather. When we produce real leather, we have to raise or capture animals. It is very hard. But when we produce biofabricated leather, we can produce goods efficiently. And I think that biofabricated leather is in no way inferior to real leather. That is why we can enjoy various goods.

Anyway, it is definitely right that biofabrication brings many benefits and our life will become richer than before.

In the last class, we discussed the article that telecommunication service in Cuba has been refomed by the goverment.

The summery and my opinion are as follows.

1. The summery of this article

Cuban goverment has announced a plan to expand internet access by adding Wi-Fi capacity to dozens of state-run internet centers.

It is the first important expansion of the internet in Cuba. And the change is significant improvement in access for many people.

Cuba goverment has also  announced more than halving the cost that users pay for an hour online.

But that price remains expensive for most Cubans. The only Wi-Fi network has been at hotels, and the price is nearly quarter of the average salary for Cubans.

2.  My opinion

I think the refom is a notable step. People can use their own smartphones, tablets and laptops. Then they can get online easier in Cuba.

However, it should be reflected that why there was lack of a communication network.

There are two possible reasons.

One is that Cubans were pressured not to use the internet freely. It was because the goverment feared social unrest.

The other is that the U.S. did trade prohibition on Cuba. And there was lack of quipment to communicate with a person. That is why people cannot be access to the internet.

I cannot judge which is correct. But I can declare that a shortage of communication will be a bad effect on people in the country, and it will be one of the gap between rich and poor countries.

 

“Thousands of dead fish wash up at Rio de Janeiro lagoon that will host rowing and canoeing events”

In the last class, we discussed the article that thousands of dead fish had washed up in Brazil.

The summary and my opinion are as follows.

⑴ The summary of the article

Thousands of dead fish have washed up in a lagoon in Rio de Janeiro that will host rowing and canoeing events at Olympics Games.

The organisers worry about the health of participants in the Olympics Games.

The cause of these dead fish was not known whether an environmental problem or an overfishig.

These dead fish bother local residents because the smell is very strong and a lot of fish slow the boat.

⑵ My opinion

I think that people should consider about environment.

Although operating benefit is important, people must not distruct the ecosystem.

So I think two proposal to prevent environmental distruction.

First, the government should make a law to stop overfishig. For example, restriction of haul.

Second, people should have a kindness for environment. I think that call to protect environment will bear fruit.

In conclusion, people in Brazil should consider about environmental problems seriously. And the dead fish will disappear.
