Making leather and meat as disired

Andras Forgacs, the speaker, suggested a plan of making leather andmeat without killing animals.

I think Andras showed us a revolutionary and marvelous idea. I agreehim for the most part. I have three reasons for this.

First, it is a method that doesn’t provoke ethical problems. Thereare a lot of people who don’t eat meat, particular meat or all types of meat, for religious and cultural reasons. Meat is a delicious food so Andras’s idea probably brings them happiess.

Second, it is an environmentally friendly method. The world’spopulation is growing so we need to maintain more and more animals. It creates a breeding ground for disease and opportunities for harm and abuse. At once diseases go around human, it may kill millions of people. The other problem which the enormous amount of animals provoke is the global warming. The global warming is a big problem that even embroils each country’s governments. We mustn’t increase the number of animals which are the big producers of greenhouse gases. Another problem is the animals use land, food, fresh water. Lack of such sources especially causes people in developing countries pain. Maintaining enormous amount of animals causes many problems so we need an alternative plan. And in fact, Andras’s plan is effective.

Finally, leather which can be made by his idea have desirablequalities. If we can make leather as we like, that’s a wonderful thing. And to begin with prevailing leather is effective to prevail the technology of making meat among the world.

ButI have a point to refer to the idea. We don’t need to be so much sensitive to kill animals. In our long history, we killed lots of animals and ate or wore them. And we kill not only cows or pigs but also fish. Isn’t it a bad thing? To live, killing animals is not a wrong way. (309 words)

Bangladesh fury over lynching video

The article we read was about lynching a teenage boy in Bangladesh.
A boy was trying to steal a bicycle rickshaw van to help his family selling vegetables. The boy was detected by three men. He was tied to a pole and hit repeatedly with a metal rod by the three men. The boy was killed. His body was took away but the men were soon arrested. More than 60 injury marks were found on his body. One of the attackers had filmed the assault laughing and jeering on his mobile phone. Thousands of people in Bangladesh demanded justice for the boy. In Bangladesh, mobs often attack suspect thief. But this outrage which was caused by the brutality of the assault was widespread and led to police forming a special squad.
It is an extremely brutal case. First, the victim was a teenage boy. Second, he had a serious reason that to help his family selling vegetables for trying to stealing the bicycle rickshaw van. Third, the way to kill the boy was terrible. The men hit the boy many times and there were a lot of injury marks on his body. Finally, the men were enjoying hitting and killing the boy and what is worse, one of them filmed the assault on his mobile phone.
Now we can easily take photos or movies and easily post them on Facebook or Twitter. To reduce troubles and criminals, we should be restricted posting pictures or movies or statements. The contemporary troubles are diverse so we have to find and contemplate solutions concretely.

All forms of medical marijuana are legal, Canadian court rules

I read an article about a news of drug in Canada. First, possessing marijuana was prohibited in any forms such as dried type and oil type. So a baker, Owen Smith who had baked 200 pot cookies was arrested for trafficking and unlawful possession of marijuana in 2009. But a British Columbia judge acquitted him and Canada’s government was given a time to change laws around extracting marijuana. Then, restricting people to dried marijuana for medical purposes was declared invalid by the court. The court ruled that prohibiting possession of non-dried forms of marijuana is “contrary to the principles of fundamental justice”, “the effects of the prohibition contradict the objective of protecting health and safety”. Now, Canadians who qualify to use medical marijuana can have products like cannabis-infused cookies and tea.
Shortly speaking, Canada’s government relaxed the restriction on using marijuana. I agree with the decision of the court and the government. The reason is that marijuana is less danger than alcohol and tobacco. There is a data that the dangerousness of marijuana is just 1/114 of alcohol. First I was shocked that the court concluded using marijuana legal because it is banned in my country, Japan. But in Japan, adults use tobacco legally which is more dangerous than marijuana. So now, I understand the declaration of the court.

The WHO has declared Liberia free of the Ebola virus.

We read an article about the danger of theEbola virus and the news of Liberia free of the Ebola virus. Ebola caused more than 4700 deaths in Liberia. The harm was enormous but the WHO declared that Liberia was free of it. The maximum incubation period are 21days. After the twice of it (42days) past without a new case, the WHO regarded the country Ebola-free. Correspondents say the outbreak will have a long-term period impact on Liberia’s fragile economy.
In our group, we discussed how to declinethe outbreak of disease. We need to guard our mucosas, eyes and mouths and so, from the virus so to wear masks is important. We mustn’t touch our eyes with dirty hands and we have to keep our hands clean. And also to refrain from going out is important because it spreads through contact with sick people.
