Indian man denied job for ‘being Muslim’

In the last class, we read and talked about “Indian man denied job for ‘being Muslim’“

This topic is about religion conflict. Mr. Khan who believe Muslim don’t be hired by non-Muslim company. He posted the offensive email on Facebook and filed a complaint with the police against the firm in Mumbai and the government in Maharashtra state has promised to conduct an inquiry. However, the firm said the his email was mistakenly sent. In a word, people who believe Muslim is only hired by Muslim company and people who believe Hindu is hired by only Hindu company. This MR. Khan’s case is spread by a various of medias.

After I read this topic, I think the government should improve religion discrimination like this topic and we must make efforts to get rid of religion discrimination. For example, the government makes the law which prohibit the company hire candidates by their religion. It’s because, I think that to hire candidates by their religion makes religion conflicts and discrimination worse and make other a various of problems.Given that reason, I think the government should improve religion discrimination like this topic and we must make efforts to get rid of religion discrimination.

Spain to vote in regional and municipal elections

Spain to vote in regional and municipal elections
This article is about the battle between the new party and traditional party in Spain. There used to be two major party in Spain. But these days, Spain is suffering from economic crisis and a series of corruption scandals. As a result, opinion poll suggested that the ruling Popular Party (PP) and the leading opposition, the Socialists (PSOE) Party should both be punished by voters.
So newer party such as Ciudadanos and the anti-austerity party Podemos began to get more seats in regional election. Two traditional party are afraid of their pro-business agenda. Each party’s sphere of influence may be changing on a large scale.

After the economic crisis, which is called “Global Financial Crisis” in 2009, Japan was so suffering from recession and increasing of unemployment rate. So voters in Japan became more and more confused and they began to blame Japanese Prime Minister Aso. In 2010, the Democratic Party of Japan had come to power instead of the Liberal Democrats. Most voters looked to the Democratic Party of Japan and this revolution. But it was failure and the Liberal Democrats had returned to power again in 2013. After this returning, Japanese economy is now recovering steadily.
The similar is now happening in Spain. People in Spain must be angry to arrogance of politician. But they must be keeping cool. They must judge the agenda of newer party coolly.

Greece cannot afford IMF repayment

Our topic was “financial control of Greece”.

In the last class, we talked about Greece debt crisis. Greece is a European poor country, so they cannot help getting money from IMF and EU to avoid breaking down and have to get along with those institutions to secure the final tranche of its bailout. However, although Greece had worked hard to meet its end of the deal with lenders, Greece couldn’t have paid back their debt by the deadline. What is worse, Greece needs more help from IMF and EU. If it fails to come to a deal with its partners, IMF and EU may halt their help to Greece. This situation could push the Greek government towards leaving the single currency, and Greece has been struggling to pay debt, public sector wages and pensions.

Through this article, I think that the Greek finance is under the control of other countries or organizations and Greece can’t break out of this situation as long as they depend on help from lenders. However, it must be impossible for Greece to achieve complete repayment, and if those helps are stopped, it will lead to financial bankruptcy. I think it is a vicious cycle that can’t be broken off and will keep happening every time the deadline of repayment comes close.

Referendum and The right to vote

Our topic has major two points to be considered. The first point is about withdrawal of UK from EU, and the second point is about right to join referendum.

《referendum》

Among member nations of EU, it is being argued that whether Britain should be in EU or out of EU. And at last, prime minister of Britain, David Cameron promised to hold a referendum by the end of 2017. Should Britain leave from EU or be in EU? The most important purpose of EU is to keep peace in European countries by connecting them closely. So, I think member nations of EU should try to prevent Britain from being out of EU. If UK leaves from EU, conflict between UK and other EU countries will get deeper and deeper.

《right to vote》

It was decided to do referendum by the end of 2017, but some of  people in UK don’t have the right to vote. For example, UK-based citizens from most EU countries don’t have the right to vote, while irish citizens in the UK and residents from two other EU nations-Malta and Cyprus are eligible. The result of referendum will be concerned with lives of all people living in UK. So, I think all people in UK should have the right to vote. And then they can find the real answer of “referendum”.

Indian man denied job for “being Muslim”

1) The summary of the article

Mr Khan was denied to work in the Jewelry Company. It is because he is Muslim. The company was severely condemned from social media on this matter. Then the company sent e-mail him that ”We regret to tell that to hire only non-Muslims.”  He has a high career was angry this is a deep discrimination.  And he exposes its rude mail on Facebook.  Then the government promised to equal employment opportunities.  However the company was trying to escape responsibility. Because the e-mail send trainee.  Other writers were also angry about this matter.  Many social media users accused the company that’s religious discrimination.

2) My opinion

I think that religion discrimination is not good. It is because religion discrimination sometimes cause war. History has proved it.  And war makes only sad. So we should not be religion discrimination. But still religion discrimination exists in various places as it was written in this article. Religion discrimination is not easy to be solved. Because it has many problems, such as history, thought and so on. We have to understand each religion. It is not easy thing. But I think that understanding each other is most important to solve religion discrimination. If religion discrimination disappear, the world can get a piece of peace.

Charlie Hebdo, for richer, for poorer?

Today, we have discussed the article “Charlie Hebdo, for richer, for poorer?”. There are three main points: resignation of the cartoonist, suspension of the colmnist and criticism from 26 prominent writers.

First, Charlie Hebdo’s surviving cartoonist Renald Luzier planned to throw up his job. As we know, two Islamist gunmen killed twelve at Charlie Hebdo’s Paris office in January. He had already drawn for it for 20 years when it happened. However, he decided to leave his office because of his work load and the absence of his fellow satirists. In other words, he wanted to regain control of his life.

Second, the management suspended the columnist Zineb El Rhazaoui. She had repeatedly failed to meet her contractual obligations because Charlie Hebdo sold more copies than ever before. It was estimated at millions.

Third, 26 prominent writers protested that Charlie Hebdo went too far mocking Islam. The magazine had attacked with words as a freedom of expression and some members who took part in publishing the magazine were killed by Islamist hit men so it became a global symbol of free speech. On the other hand, radical expressions in the magazine also met with strong opposition.

In connection with this article, I’d like to argue that we should select the believable information by ourselves. The media can try to be fair but actually it is impossible to maintain completely neutrality. I think it is so difficult to report without one’s mind. However, we believe that information from the media is correct. If there is no rule to regulate biased report, the media will force a one-sided view on us.

In this modern society, everyone can easily know what happens in the world through the media especially through the Internet. Because of that, we must select the dependable and reliable information by ourselves as well as we demand the media to be impartial.

Russia introduces law against “undesirable” NGOs

“Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed into law a bill which will allow foreign organisations  to be banned from operating in the country.”

In the last class, we discussed the article that Putin introduces a law which punish anti- government people.

The summery and my opinion are as follows.

(1) The summery of the article

President Putin introduces a new law which will give authorities the right to punish NGO  if  their activity is considered a threat to Russian security.

Those who back the bill claim that the law will protect Russia from outside interference such as EU and the U.S.

Many people in Russia and other countries believe that the new law will be used to punish the people on political opposition to the Russian government.

People who work for an NGO will face a maximum six year jail term if they are considered as political crime.

(2) My opinion

I think that Russian government should not introduce the new law, and cooperate with other countries.

There are two reasons.

First,I think that the freedom and right which people have will not   assure at all in Russia if the new law introduced.

Second, Russia will be isolated from all over the world. Then, economic in Russia will not work, and life of people will worse.

Therefore, I think that Russian government should reconsider.

South African miners accused over black ownership rules

【Summary】

Miners are reluctant to obey the government rule that at least 26% of company shares should be under black ownership. According to the government, only about 20% of miners filled the rule. However the leader of mining industry protected companies in meeting the rule mentioning that the industry has already completed the required ownership.

【Opinion】

This is an article focused on the economic problem in South Africa, but I think this is also about racial problems. Though mining is the biggest sector of industries in South Africa, there is the background that blacks is under the control of whites. White people kept power in South Africa for many years and most black people didn’t have chances to use their rights. Even if Apartheid disappeared, the hidden discrimination still remains, I guess.   So the problems in this article may be caused by the hidden racial background.

Madagascar divers find silver believed part of pirate stash

We’ve discussed about a silver bar found in a bay off of Madagascar.

The bar was found by a team read by Barry Clifford, who is an American undersea explorer. The bar is about 50 kilograms, and has two clearly visible markings engraved on one side. He believes that the silver bar belongs to one of Kidd’s boats, and there could be more treasure on the floor.

The bar was presented to Madagascar’s president, Hery Rajaonarimanmpianina. He hopes that the discovery of the silver will increase Madagascar’s profile and bring more tourists to the island.

At one point during Clifford’s current exploration, Madagascar authorities called a halt the work, worried the team was violating archaeological procedures. The culture ministry appealed to UNESCO, to help them investigate. The president’s office intervened and the work continued.

I was surprised that even present age, treasures which pirates left was found. At our group, many members said that it’s amazing to find such treasures, because they have enormous value if they sell them. But I think that if you found some kind of treasures, you can’t keep them yourself but give them to country because they have archaeological values. Monetary value is of course fantastic, but many people who search for treasures would be hooked on mysteries of history.

South Africa deports Mozanbicans after anti-foreigner violence

[Summary]

The reason why this violence happened is migrants like Mozambicans are taking South Africans jobs. It makes 24% unemployment rate in South Africa.

Mozambique’s government want to confer with the South Africans but South Africans attacked foreigners and it made at least seven people death.

Although South African government blamed the violence, they have investigated to solve problems about foreigner’s illegal working.

South African government have denied operation for the police to target foreigner.

Besides they are satisfied the situation and their agencies work all the time to keep the situation between foreigner and South Africans.

A lot of deported Mozambicans have lived in tents that Mozambican government set up when this violence happened.

South Africans President were shocking about this violence and appealed for calm.

[Opinion]

I think that government in same situation like South African government should increase employment to solve this problem. For increasing employment, they should plan some project. For example, making a dam, holding Olympic, making theme park and so on. It makes many employment.
