【Summary】

US scientists succeed to find the way to stop spreading malaria to humans from the mosquitoes. It was the method called Crisper that scientists put a new ‘’resistance’’ gene into the mosquito’s DNA. This ‘’resistance’’ gene could be inherited by offspring among three generations. In addition, the California team used Indian mosquito called Anopheles stephensi for the experiment. Scientists could make mosquitoes poor host for the malaria parasite by putting new DNA code into their bodies. They hope that this method also works another kind of insects.

Other scientists have been finding another way to stop spreading the disease. They approach from the side of infertile.

【Opinion】

There are some ways to prevent from the biting of insects such as using the insecticides, but they are not powerful. Because of they do not have the strong effects, the lab techniques will be helpful for people in the future. These techniques have the strong hopes of human beings all over the world. This will help a lot of people and next generations.

I think the important thing is that we should not believe only the scientific technologies so strongly because nobody knows what happens to the next. It might bring the bad news or not. Sometimes, we should think carefully by using own head and check the information. I think additional using of the insecticides and repellents are more helpful even if the gene methods worked successful.

I hope that new ‘resistance’ gene methods works powerful.

The　speaker was talking about biofabrication techniques. He was claiming that the action of the human beings is morally crazy that they slaughter the animals simply to eat and to get their skins. Then, he expected that the population of people would be double increased in the future and also they will need more meats. These situations would cause bad effects to both the earth and humans as having a disease, Global warming and Air pollution. For these reasons, he recommended to grow meat and leather from the cells which is the basic unit of life as we produce wine, beer and yogurt in a factory. By using biofabrication, we do not have to kill the animals uselessly anymore.

I think this is an amazing idea and also agree with him from the both side of moral and the efficiency. Since we grow meats and leathers in the factory, more spaces would be available for animals and people. Animals can live more freely and people can use that area in not the way of raising a lot of animals, but the way of making more profits. If we grow the meats and the leathers from the cells, we can grow them whatever we want. It is a great thing to control the numbers and the shapes. We might help the poor people to produce nearly unlimited foods because when we grow the cells, maybe we do not have to think about the weather conditions and other nature affections and also the environment of the factory is clean. Perhaps, it might lead to the end of that the vegetarians do not have meats.

Finally, I think manmade meat and leather is a big step forward in society. I am a little afraid of having the manmade meats, which I have never experienced. Therefore the innovation always has the unaccustomed situations. The important thing is that before we take an action like eating meats produced in the factory instead of killing the natural living things, the scientists have to test and test whether these foods are really safety. As the speaker suggested us that people should be civilized. Let’s move on to the next stage of human society. We can be more kind to the earth and other living things. The new era is waiting for us.

 

 

 

I read an article about the president’s action for the gun violence in the U.S.

Sometimes the gun violence occurs in the U.S. On this time, a white gunman attacked the Methodist church during a Bible study session and over nine people were shoot by him. This attack was called a Hate crime by the police. Obama said more than eleven thousands people were killed by gun violence in 2013 and he claims to need “common-sense gun safety reforms’’. It is difficult to change the politic systems, but it is important that people know these issues well and think about these things for getting rid of the violence. Obama would never give up to solve the violence problems.

People in the U.S. have been thinking that having a gun is the natural thing, but some of them started to question the importance of having the guns paying some sacrifices. I agree with Obama to reform the systems in there which they do not have to have a gun to prevent the trigger of the deadly events. The happening with the weapons usually have the big damages. If they did not have them, the damages would not be so big. To maintain the weapons might make people feeling in secure, but the weapons instead of it was the deterrence do not make real peace. I remembered about the history of the U.S. and Russia which they had given up the competition of the nuclear weapons and they have started to compete on the part of the space. After this shift change, the damages of the people were diminished. They should be brave to throw away the guns. If everyone do not have the guns, one part of people’s fear would be decreased.

We discussed about the problem of anti-foreigner violence in South Africa. Many people try to migrate from their own countries such as Zimbabwe, Nigeria and Mozambique to South Africa these days. South Africans detest foreigners taking their jobs because the citizens in there were suffering from the poverty. The unemployment rate is 24%. Because of the poor, a xenophobic attacks occurred in April. South Africans attacked to the people from the other countries and some people were dead including one Mozambican.

Consequently, the government became sever to prevent turning out the victims from the violence and arrested and deported the thousands of the illegal immigrants. Many of them have been lived in tents in a transit center near the capital Maputo.

I think more countries all over the world face such as this serious situation. In my view, these problem exist between both poor countries. Both of them were suffering from the poverty even if the levels of them are different. In the case of South African, I think if only the problem of the illegal migrants were improved, the situation in South Africa would not be well. We have to think the problem wider. It is not easy to get high standard of living, but people should reform the basics of the economy and the politics. They should reconsider the policy of the government and also the cooperation might be the important.

We talked about the conflict between Muslims and Buddhist in Burma.　Three Muslims received 14year prison sentence in order to communal violence.

The incident that the gold shop owner beat a Buddhist customer is thought the trigger of the clashes between two, Burma’s Muslim and Buddhist communities.

From that the communal violence spread to the other part of the area and a lot of Muslims were deprived their living.

Burmese president Thein Sein finally warned to use force if the enmity between faith of religions. The violence is kind of illegal.

IT is not important what was the trigger of these riots, but the cause of their anger. The hatred between faiths was existed before the violence already. We have to solve the essential cause of their hatred in  people’s mind.

It seems that different faith and religions exist in the same area or the same country is bad, but I think there are not only negative points, but good points. It is good to have many kinds of ideas. If we put many different ideas to good account, we should understand each religious backgrounds and the environment they have put now. After they understand each other they should show respect each other. If we could not understand the others, we have to try it.
