Is sport more dangerous than ever?

1. Summary
The article states that the dangers of participating in sport have increased and it also attributes the cause to some points. First, sport players such as rugby players are now much bigger and heavier than they used to be, what is more, they play a more aggressive form of rugby. Secondly, according to Dr, Loosemore, there is a definite trend towards trying out new and more dangerous activities because of the over-protective society. However, Sport itself is attractive because there is some danger involved. It makes this problem further complicated.

2. Opinion
I myself belong to the lacrosse team in university and I’m doing hard training everyday. Lacrosse is called the fastest martial arts because of its speed and roughness. Lacrosse players can hit other player’s arms and shoulders with metal sticks, furthermore, they can thrust other players. Consequently, almost all the prayers always have some bruises on some parts of the body, and some players are suffered from concussion. It is true that lacrosse is a dangerous sport. However, I personally think taking away dangerous part from lacrosse has a negative influence on lacrosse itself because dangerous part is indispensable part of this sport and spectators are absolutely enchanted by this part. What we the lacrosse player should do instead is to take care of our body after training by stretching, wearing a mouth piece to prevent concussion, or something like that.

UK athletics federation demands for world records to be rest

〈Summary〉

Britain’s athletics federation called for all world records to be reset on Monday. It is because drug cheats and corruption scandals are serious. UK athletics also said that serious drug cheats should face a lifetime ban in ″A Manifesto for clean Athletics″. Ed Warner said trust in the sport is at its lowest point for decades. The bid doping scandals were happened in Russia and Kenya. The British 14-point manifesto  calls for WADA to furuther tighten rules on permitted on permited drugs, a public register of all tests and for all athletes at world championships to have a valid biological passport.

〈My opinion〉

There are serious drug cheats at today’s sports. So, I am going to think about drug cheats. I  think we don’t　have to reset all world records. It is because there are a lot of athletes without cheating. So, I think we should reset records that athletes put out by drug cheats. I opposite drug cheats. It is because we should put out records by own efforts, not by drugs. In conclusion, I think we should not reset all world records.

Russia’s doping problem

Summary

European Athletics president Svein Arne Hansen says that Russia will not take part in next year’s Rio Olympics. Russia’s athletic s federation was not allowed by IAAF( International Association of Athletics Federation) because Russia has a doping problem. An IAAF researchers will visit to Russia in January and the result will go back to IAAF Council in Cardiff on 27 March. Svein says in the Athletics Weekly magazine that Russia has to change their culture, takes away people who use drugs and takes in people who understand that such a situation is not good. IAAF will decide to suspend Russia on 13 November.

Opinion

I think that doping should be regulated strictly because the records have to protected. The records are that athletes make thorough their lives. Since they were children, they practiced hardly to mark world record. The record is very important for athletes so they must not do doping. It is not equality. Though some athletes do doping before race so sports organization should think about measures. The way I think is that athletes are examined twice before race and after race. This way will be able to prevent to marking wrong record.

Tokyo Olympic stadium get new, cheaper design

1.Summary
A new, more scaled-down, design has been chosen for the main stadium at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
The new design will cost less by 100bn yen and it reflects Japanese temple styles so it fits better with its immediate environment. Indeed, it also has demerit in view of capacity or another event, but it will be quicker. It is demanded to meet criteria such as basic principels, construction period and cost.

2.My Opinion
I would like to express my opinion from two points of view.
As far as the method of determination, I don’t agree to changing the design although they decide once. It is impolite for Ms Zaha Hadid, who is the architest of the old design, to cansel the plan. It is true that we should hold down expenses because it is paid from tax money, but I think ‘design’ include not only its looks but also its cost, its construction period and so on. I think we should have demonstrated feasibility more.
However, as far as the design itself, I appreciate the new one because it echoes Japanese temples’ style. I think the Olympics is a good chance to introduce Japanese technic, culture and tradition. Futuristic design is also good to show our technology, but temple styles are a technology native to Japan from a long time ago. It can embody Japanese-heart and excert a powerful appeal to Japanese strong point.
As stated above, I expressed two different opinions from another points. It is difficult to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ clearly because the Olympics is the biggest event in the world so there must be many ploblems. We need to concider them from every possible angle. But I believe Japan has enough power to overcome them. I wish great success in the Olympics.

To reset world records

Summary

Britain’s athletics federation would like to reset all world records. Because the issues of doping worsen the image of sports. UK athletics said that serious drug cheats should face a lifetime ban. UK athletics federation thinks that the trust to the sports of people is the lowest recently. So it would like to clean the sports circles. UK Athletics chairman Ed Warner said “Greater transparency, tougher sanctions, longer bans – and even resetting the clock on world records for a new era”. It was a big problem the government cooperated with a plyer and did wrong. it submitted the manifesto to WADA. UK Athletics said that sponsors should not support athletes found guilty of serious doping offences.

My opinion

I think that UK athletics federation’s manifesto is too severe. If all world records are reset, people who have world records now are pitiful. The greater part of people who have world records made an effort. I also think that the criterion of the dopimg is very difficult. It is doping not to mention using the drugs. I heard that there are people who inject a large quantity of blood into the body for good blood circulation. There are a great variety of doping methods in this way. So I think that it is necessary to decide the criteria of doping at first.

Tokyo orimpic Games to generate up to 30 trillion yen for economy

According to the Bank of Japan, The 2020 Tokyo Orimpics and Paralympics are expected to gererate 25 trillion yen to 30 trillion yen revenue within the Japanise economy from 2014 to 2020. That estimate mirrors an increase in infrastracture concern and spending by foreighn tourist. In those days , many tourist come to Jafan. If the pace of increase continued, the number of foreighn tourist may reach 33 million in 2020. Japanese government expect that those people by many goods and contribute Japanese economy. The Orympic Games are planned to lift Japanese GDP by 1 percent by 2018. Not only the government, privete companies can also get benefit to participate in the event like advertisement. It also said thet more worker are needed altogether in such sectors as construction and tourism.
Recentry I often hear about topics of Tokyo Orimpic on TV. Most of them are negative side of the orimpic games like design of emblem and main stadium. I recognized that Tokyo Orimpic will give us big revenue. But I did not know the revenue will lift our economy. This is a hard time to find a job. However, by the Olympic Games, I think a lot of companies start to look for young talent. I hope to finish employment ice age by the time we graduate from university. And I hope that economic growth does not end with only temporary.

Gamba’s Patric considering to participate in the World Cup for Japan

Patric is a soccer player of Gamba since July 2014 and play an important role in helping them win. He want to apply for Japanese because he want to join Japanese national team. He think that there are very few players whose position are like him. After he said, he was racially abused by Urawa supporters. He was very disappointed that the opinion. However, he never gave up. He said “I’m really proud of to be black” and “I never dreamt of being on the receiving end in” Japan.

I think there is no problems if Patric apply for Japanese citizenship. There are some reasons. First, it is fun if the national team strong. When the Japanese rugby football team victory the big game, lots of people were delighted though the national team has many player from foreign country. Second, the most important thing is the spirit. For winning the game, the team must fight as one. If the player from foreign country has another mind, the team will breakdown. However,like the Japanese rugby team, it is possible to fight as one because we are same the human race.

Tokyo Olympic stadium gets new, cheaper design

【Summary】

A new design of Tokyo Olympic stadium was produced by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. According to this design, the government have to pay 149 billion yen to build. The new design is cheaper than the design by Ms. Haddis, which will cost 149 billion yen. The new design reflects Japanese temple styles and fits better with its environment. The construction have to be quicker because the deadline January 2020 is approaching.

【Opinion】

I think the first design is cooler than any other designs, but the cost is too expensive and absurd. Compared with other stadiums, I wonder the plan to build the new stadium really need such high cost. Although the new plan is cheaper than the first one,I do not think it is worth paying 149 billion yen. Allianz Arena, which is a stadium used for football team, FC.Bayern has very unique feature. But it only cost 510 billion yen. The other example is　Bird’s Nest where Beijing Olympic was held. It cost only 500 billion yen. Needless to say, it is very unique. The new design of Tokyo Olympic stadium is not unique for me and also expensive. I want JOC to review the plan.

Tokyo Olympics to generate up to 30 trillion yen for economy

[Summary]
Recently, the infrastructure investment has been increasing and more foreign tourists has been spending money in Japan. Taking it into account, the Bank of Japan expects that profits of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics reach 25 trillion yen to 30 trillion yen from 2014 to 2020. It is said that Japan’s gross domestic product rises by around 1 percent by 2018 by sporting events. Moreover, the Tokyo Olympics is good chance for Japanese companies to advertise their products. It generates new consumption and makes a good impact on Japanese economy.

[Opinion]
I think there are 5 main economic effests by the Tokyo Olympics. First, the construction of the stadium and related facilities will promote more employment. More salaries revitalize consumption. Second, special procurements related to the Olympics will occur. For example, people who want to watch competitions with a television of better picture quality replaced old television with a new one and goods related to the Olympics such as mascots are sold. Third, Foreign tourists will spend much money in Japan. BOJ said that 33 million tourists would visit Japan in 2020 if the current pace of increase continued. Tourism is an important market for Japanese economy. Forth, expenses spending sports will increase. While the Olympic takes place, many sponsors related to sports advertise their products and watching each event of sports motivates people to try new sports, so Japanese companies can get benefits. The other is the economic effects after the Olympics. If the Olympics succeed, an impression of Japan will improve. Now, all the countries of the world have bad image because of the earthquake and the nuclear power plant disaster. However, Japan can get trust from other countries and more foreign tourists visit Japan if Japan prove safety through the Olympics. I think the biggest purpose of the Tokyo Olympics is to improve the image of Japan. In addition, the opening celemony is the opportunity which shows Japanese traditional culture and the noble sprit “omotenashi”. The Tokyo Olympics isn’t goal, so Japanese government should consider the scheme leading to the deveropment of Japanese economy after that.

“Is sport more dangerous than ever?”
Fatal accidents during sporting activities have occurred frequently in recent months. So the question was come up.
Rugby union is one sport whose players are often injured. Risks for the players are caused by how the game is played.
There is a trend towards trying out new and more dangerous activities. Too protective society leads this trend.
And adding protective equipment may also increase danger because the equipment can be weapons.
In sports, there are always risks of accidents and unconscious heart condition.
On the other hand, sport is attractive because there is some danger involved. And Dr Loosemore says that removing the risk is dangerous in itself.
I agree with Dr Loosemore’s opinion. Any Sports have danger. We may want to play or encourage sports because of their some danger. So I also think sports without dangers are less attractive.
And it is difficult to stop the trend towards trying out more dangerous activities. I think it is their choice.
However, I don’t want to say that we should do nothing to prevent players from injuries during sporting activities.
I think major sports which have professional players or popular sports should not be too dangerous because major sports influence many people. So each association of sports should investigate causes of accidents during the games.
Then,rules which cause injuries should be revised if the revise of them do not make the sports less attractive.
I think it is good to revise dangerous rules without sports’ attractions.
