Ukraine police hurt at Kiev gay pride rally

We talked about the scuffles in Ukraine and “LGBT” in the last class. The summary and my opinion is as follow.

Summary

There was a gay pride march in Ukraine’s capital Kiev. People who against this event attacked this event. Five policemen have been injured in scuffles. Unidentified people attacked the rally alongside the Dnipro river with smoke bombs and stones. Kiev Mayor Vitaly Klitschko had called on the organisers of the Equality March because of “avoiding confrontation” in the capital. HUndreds of police officers were deployed to prevent clashes during Saturday’s event. According to Twitter, 25-30 “radicals” were arrested. The rally finished shortly after the scuffles. The rights of sexual minorities are guranteed and protected in Ukraine. Critics say homophobia is widespread and generally accept in the predominantly Orthodox Christian nation.

My opinion

I think that the purpose of this march is the normal people and the sexual minorities are equal. I imagine that the predominatly Orthodox Christians were angry at that and attacked the march. I do not criticize “LGBT”. Tere is Gender identify disorders. It is sad to criticize “LGBT” though there is this disease. I don’t have religion. So I don’t understand the sense that an action is limited by religion. I don’t also understand the feeling to criticize a person by a religion idea. So I don’t understand the feeling of the people who attacked this march well. I think that because many Japanese don’t have religion, they can accept a great variety of people and thoughts. In fact, many gays and lesbians appear to Japanese TV.
